ZT Computers?

Post » Mon Mar 14, 2011 9:09 pm

So yesterday I asked this forum about computer advice and you all helped me choose which computer to buy and I was super thankful and went and bought it today. I am very happy with my purchase. So I come home tonight and as I am about to open my new copmuter, I got my weekly email from costco and they are having a sale on a computer where the specs are too good to be true for 800 dollars and I have never heard of the brand. For 800 dollars it has:

  • Intel? Core? i7-2600 Processor (3.40GHz)
  • 1TB 7200RPM SATA II Hard Drive
  • 12GB DDR3 Memory (32GB MAX)

http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?Prodid=11617996&whse=BC&Ne=4000000&eCat=BC|84|56671|78519&N=4047238&Mo=14&pos=1&No=5&Nr=P_CatalogName:BC&cat=78519&Ns=P_Price|1||P_SignDesc1&lang=en-US&Sp=C&ec=BC-EC10600-Cat56671&topnav=

So is this a great deal and I should return my purchase to bestbuy and get something like this, or is it too good to be true?

Yea it sure does, but the thing is costco is an extremely reliable store, great customer service, etc. It is one of the best retail stores.

Which is why it's so cheap, it's also missing the video card, which your looking at both for the same price as what your buying.... it's a rip off.... just sayin.

Yea, I am about to open up the computer I bought today which is a good mainstream multimedia computer. Just waiting for a few more people to come in and reassure me that i should be weary of this computer.

I'm not gonna claim I know a whole lot about computers, but I do know that you most likely would regret changing your purchase now. Like others have said, with integrated graphics/sound, etc. you are basically buying a machine that has a much shorter life expectancy. Regardless of whether you plan on using your new computer to game or not, it's basically "as-is" for the life of the machine. No upgrading, short of buying a new machine.

Well, it doesn't have a "short-life" to it. But the quality of what you are buying is based on only a couple things. With computers, half-assing on anything is going to cause an over-all system downgrade, so.

What is this hard to believe. Wow, it has a lot of RAM... RAM is relatively cheap. 12GB (4GB x 3) is about 200-250USD. The system doesn't have much else. Also in order to get the 32GB maximum you would have to replace every single module, as the system only has 4 DIMMs.

My 2 cents....

Anything THAT cheap is being made with the lowest grade of generic product whenever possible.

Other than a quality Intel i7, everything else is from the lowest-cost supplier. It might do well in many respects and never fail, but performance-wise, it's not going to be all that great.
