Concept art and recreation

Post » Sun Jan 02, 2011 1:13 pm

Hi I was wondering if anyone is interested inpicking up some of the concept art showed by Bethesda along those days and recreate it , I personally would find intriguing to make something in 3d , may be high poly .....

I think Bethesda is doing that just now :) They'll be done in November and it will be much better than anyone here can manage. Have patience :P

But, yeah -- I'm not much help.

I collect concept art, partly for its own sake and partly for doing what you suggest - using it as inspiration and reference for modeling. There's nothing in the current concept art that I'd really want to tackle, though (I mostly do weapons, structures, and similar things), and as Cratesmasher correctly pointed out, Bethesda's artists will already be creating meshes and textures based on that art, to a much, much higher standard than I could achieve.

Maybe more experienced artists than me will take up the idea though, and we'll certainly see plenty of new models after the game's released.

Clearly -- I didn't think you thought Bethesda would wanna use anything made by us :) I can see how it would be fun too -- I'd love to see some artwork done by forum members. I can't use 3D programs myself though, so I will only watch, not contribute.... maybe I'll do some paper fanart when I get some time.

I just hope they release the concept art and put out some good wallpapers, I want a nice Skyrim art desktop wallpaper.

I might end up doing some traditional art based on Skyrim architectures/environments but I'm lazy and I only have a small scanner so I may not end up sharing it.
All I have uploaded online is an owl I painted for my grandma at the moment. :|

lol
I do primarily landscape stuff though.

Man that looks great! You have nice style to your painting :) Like the strokes and how it all kinda vibrates. But it's kinda intense, sure that would be the best thing to give your grandma? :P All I know is, if I've been a kid, staying at my grandmas house and seeing something like that on the wall. Sh*t, I would have been so freaked out!
