Concept Art: Lexington, Followers of Apocalypse, Mutant Dog

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 7:47 am

This is about 3 things in the concept art.

1. I think the sign over this town reads "Lexington"

It's way blurry, and concept arty, so, it may not read "Lexington".

If so, it appears to be an industrial town centered around, possibly oil refinery operations?

2. This photo contains 2 pieces of potential information.

There's the cross which looks like the cross for Followers of the Apocalypse - http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Followers_of_the_Apocalypse

... and there's what appears to be a Super Mutant Dog, possibly a mutated version of an English Bulldog.

It has lots of teeth, pointy ears, stubby tail, and disproportionately large head in comparison to its body with short thuggish legs.

It looks scary. I don't think it's a trained attack mole rat.

Maybe Super Mutants have perks, and some of them got Animal Friend, as well as Puppies! perks. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Puppies!

:)

Thoughts?

Thanks! :)

That does look like a Followers symbol - and they set themselves up above an old pharmacy, which kind of follows along with their creed.

To me that looks like a window and not a Followers symbol.. Do you have the concept art without the boxes?

I see what you're saying.

Here's the picture without zoom-boxes: http://i.imgur.com/D3ODATU.jpg

I still, however, think it's a Followers of the Apocalypse symbol due the circle around the cross, and the circle around the cross being the same color as the cross, as well as a slight off-set from the cross-beams.

There's enough room for debate either way, so, you could be correct, but, I'm still favoring Followers of the Apocalypse.

Man, I'd love to hear the tale of the Followers that braved trekking all the way from California to get to The Commonwealth.

Yes I can confirm that it is not a window by pretty much looking at the original picture. Its on a billboard of some time with lights shining at it. The billboard also appears to be falling apart to which beams holding up the board are visible which can be seen in the areas above the debated area. It is my belief that this also confirms that the symbol is NOT the followers of the apocalypse symbol because of a very small detail that you must take into consideration. There are 3 marks on this board that I view as broken parts revealing the backdrop (this includes the Followers symbol). By looking through the top right hole, you see the continuation of the building that is in the background/backdrop of the scene (same shade of green and the lines). Naturally, the hole to the left would reveal in the insides of the building, being dark/black because of a lack of light. The "Followers" symbol hole also reveals the backdrop to the scene like the other 2 holes do. The background in the area it is in is WHITE so the backdrop of the symbol is white. Every hole has those vertical and horizontal support beams as well. From this I conclude/verify that this is Not a followers symbol but merely holes in a building to which background colors play tricks on the eye.

OP, this is an excellent find. Especially with regards to identifying the city, which I also believe is Lexington after reading that sign.

Considering the fact that the real-world town has such a strong connection with the Revolutionary War (as seen https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battles_of_Lexington_and_Concord), this would be the perfect place to build up a major city, and it looks huge. It's distance from Diamond City would also make sense, and according to my 'map calculations', Lexington would be somewhere near the centre of the map, effectively making this the new Megaton (or even Paradise Falls?)

Good work, but the mutant dog has already been spotted a while ago by other users. I also hope it isn't the followers. Not that I don't Like them. But the east coast should really be it's own thing. The Enclave and Brotherhood are enough. We shouldn't in my opinion have anymore factions from the far west coast on the east coast it just makes everything seem smaller than it should be.

Well, as far as East Coast and West Coast being separate, the concept art would seem to disagree.

Here, for instance, is what appears to be a Vault 17 Jumpsuit - http://i.imgur.com/BmaMM9s.jpg

Here, also, is what appears to be a Vault 10 Jumpsuit - http://imgur.com/e17LYQO

Vault 17, and 10 were in the West.

Vault 17 was cracked open by The Master in the lore, where all the inhabitants were dipped in FEV and turned into Super Mutants. How a Vault 17 Jumpsuit would have survived that may be an interesting story if the concept art is a reflection of something included in the final game.

We don't have any lore for Vault 10, but, the numbering system would place it with high likelihood in the West with all the other double digit vaults.

So, if these jumpsuits from vaults in the West make it into the final game, it would be plausible for the Followers of the Apocalypse from the West, as well as other Western elements and agencies to make an appearance.

That's not a sign - it's an elevated train.

It looks like a sign that's been mounted directly on top of the tracks.

The one is a circular window with the top right corner of it covered by a banner. But the dog is a good find.
