Some of the more interesting things I noticed from the huge amount of concept art shown at E3 are as follows:
- A number of large swamp like areas
- An open settlement set inside a crater
- Several coastal areas with rock formations and visible waves
- A farmland area with a robotic scarecrow - his 'eyes' appear to be lit up
- Partially destroyed skyscraqers, some with visible interiors
- A quarry that appears to have a city built into it
- Dense forest areas with trees stripped of leaves and branches
- An enormous still-intact building with a vast open courtyard
- A number of boatyards and destroyed ships
- A downtown area with what looks like a robotic dog
- The interior of a large building with a damaged roof, we can see the sky from inside
- A huge city with large rocket and globe structures, it looks far bigger than Diamond City
- A destroyed power station
- A Nuclear submarine
- A large number of cranes which would suggest reconstruction
- Two tall buildings on the horizon, one broken and leaning into the other
- An airport with multiple plane wreckages, and at least one intact aircraft
- A metro tunnel that has been converted into an office or residence
- A car half-submerged in the mud
- A train wreck leaning up against a partially collapsed building
- A huge scrapyard with working machinery
- A number of awesome semi-destroyed buildings
- A large number of vehicles
- A two-headed stag
- Cats and birds
- A Super Mutant wearing power-armor
- Three raiders in what looks like custom heavy armor
- An alien wearing a space-suit, he is holding a pistol
- A large "swamp thing" looking creature
- A queen molerat, we also see a molerat burrowing out of the ground in the gameplay footage
- Signs of possible aerial combat, including milligun mounted on side of vertibird
We can also see that there is much more verticality in the level design, both above and below ground. Add to this the sheer variety of locations, as well as the inevitably vast open areas of wasteland, and it looks like our overall map is likely to be nothing short of colossal!
Now add in the dynamic weather system, the crafting system, new combat system, scavenging for parts, and the realistic possibility of no-loading screens. I think you will agree that Fallout 4 is going to be unlike anything we have ever played before.
