Concept art slide show recap

Post » Sat Nov 28, 2015 12:44 am

so I was taking a look at the concept art slideshow here

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5esyZPt5Jo&feature=youtu.be&t=4m27s

I've been pausing every couple of seconds to see what new elements Bethesda has been adding to the game and I noticed at 4:05 on the left right about the queen mole rat there is a picture for what appears to be an alien with the alien blaster from previous games. In previous games the alien has been more of an easter egg/DLC topic but I'm wondering if they will have a bigger role in the core game (maybe like a mission or 2 regarding them)

what new/interesting elements have you guys noticed so far?

EDIT: theres also a picture at 4:30 on the bottom right of what looks like an alien so it seems important enough to draw twice

That's fairly obvious and has been discussed quite a bit.

Aliens will indeed more than likely be in the game. I mean, there was a whole DLC dedicated to Aliens, so, yeah, aliens won't be a surprise.

I'm more curious about the Vault 70 jumpsuit - http://i.imgur.com/E5IChMI.jpg

and also the Vault 17 jumpsuit - http://i.imgur.com/1NkmWCr.png

How did these get so far East, and considering the stories associated with each vault?

The first one looks more like 10 for me and not like 70.

definitely looks like 10

vault 17 was the vault in new california that Lillian the nightkin was apart of. so thats a pretty big distance for a vault dweller to travel. all of those dwellers from vault 17 were captured by super mutants for the masters army. So if there are any dwellers from vault 17 it's likely they left before the raid

I saw a super-mutant duel-wielding circular saws (?) that I hadn't noticed before.

I'm really interested in all the swamp areas they kept showing.

A lot of the unique stuff in Fallout 3 was conceptualized by a guy named Adam Adamowicz. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2012. Bethesda put up a cool album of his Fallout 3 work: https://www.flickr.com/photos/47857688@N08/sets/72157629320774861

Wonder if any of his unused concepts for 3 made it into the game, or whether he got the chance to design new stuff for the fourth game. I really liked his designs (though the new stuff looks awesome too)

the cryo guns in 4 is most likely a evolution of the one he concepted in 3

(fun fact, there actually is data in Fallout 3 for the cut cryo gun, but its so unfinish and broken any attempt to add it to your inventory via console commands freezes the game)

He most likely did a good deal of the concept art for fallout 4 as well before he passed, glad to see some of his ideas have made it into fallout 4...
