So I was looking up various songs from Fallout 4, and this autoplayed after Pistol Packin' Mama. I was half watching it, until the final still image. Go look at it. It's a protectron, or am I losing it? Where is this image from? That's really cool, it's taken from some sci-fi pop culture thing from the '50s. I just wanted to share this!

That's Robby the Robot from the cult classic Forbidden Planet. I might also mention it starred Leslie Nielson long before his time as a comic actor. And yes, I bet it was one of the inspirations for the protectron as its quite famous among old time film buffs. BTW it really is a great old movie, a little silly but still a true classic.


EDIT: Just did a bit of extra research and apparently Gene Roddenberry once claimed the film helped inspire Star Trek as well, so I guess that's two things we can thank ol'Robby for. ?
