My concern about Brink MP

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 5:52 pm

Hello, I'm new to the forums. (but I've been lurking for a while) As I've been looking though something has me terribly worried. Everyone seems to want to be a light operative/engineer! The fear I have is that it will end up like all of those Team Fortress games where everyone is a scout/spy, without variety this game will burnout quickly which is really saddening.

Thoughts anyone?

if they're a light character it will just be easier for you to kill them.

You can have a bunch of different characters, so once people get tired of one they can easily move on to the others. Anyways just cause some here say that doesn't mean there won't be other classes playing. I intend to play as a medic to start out.

True, but I don't want to see everyone do it and end up like Marathon/Lightweight/Commando type issues. You can kill them sure, but that doesn't mean they aren't infuriating.

Who said they're infuriating?

Yeah but you can just blast them away away with a shotgun I believe. I think the shotgun is one shot close range on unbuffed lights. or so I heard.

There have been a lot of discussion on class in these forums, and I actually believe there is a very good variation of classes. Even if I am wrong, there is so much that we don't know yet about Brink, so after the release date I'm sure many people will change. Even I'm considering every class.

I'm sure there'll be waves of people lining up to play as a light for the parkour elements once the game is released, but I'm sure it'll die down as everyone settles into the game

also, remember that this forum doesn't represent the majority of gamers by any means

Edit: looking at some of the polls that have been turning up lately, it actually seems like there will be a pretty even balance amongst the classes

Maybe 2 shot, it's been said time and time again, no one shots.

Not necessarily, Light/Medium/Heavy will all have advantages over others. I don't think they're trying to make one class rule another.

What I meant was that they will have less health (if not buffed) thus a faster kill if you manage to land your(you're?) shots on them.

If anything is going to get abused in this game its the heavy engineers with self buffs and mini guns

im not worried about this, in most polls that have been made its seems to be pretty even, with a few more soldiers and ops then medics and engineers :)

Well, except for the buffed long rifle vs unbuffed light.

I guess a buffed shotgun does the same damage.

Sure you CAN be a light type, With Speed and Mobility.

OR you can feel like a tank with the Heavy Type, driving right through lights if they have no where to Hide >:3
I'm sure a lot of new people will "try" lights, and either

A ) Will get bored of just using SMGs and Pistols

and/or

B ) Will die a lot, and get tired of low health characters

Personally, I'm more worried about the Heavies toting Gatling guns everywhere.

I don't think anybody should worry about it!
most polls taken seem relatively close together, I noticed that about a month back operatives were most liked and soldiers least, but now in a new poll i saw that soldiers were number 1

I will play every class and bodytype. Anyway everyone starts at medium you need to be level 5 to unlock heavy and 7 for light,

Counter argument.
Heavies will probably get bored of being a walking refrigerator

and/or

They'll get tired of their lighter peers escaping.

Isn't nice that we can switch body types between matches in case we get bored playing the same one.

First off, welcome to the forums, here is your welcome turtle. :turtle:

Second, people can have up to 16 different characters, so once they get tired of being killed easily because they're a light, they'll go to something different.

I personally intend to change my class based on what is needed. Although I have plans to play more heavily as a medic or a engineer.
