I am concerned about the graphics

Post » Mon Feb 14, 2011 9:36 pm

Already a topic on this - http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1178385-outdated-graphics/

well that topics become another console war topic (mostly my own and arseths fault) but still dont worry there are many months left to go not to mention most of if not all of what we have seen was shot or filmed on a 360

I just hope they're not trying to 'get away with' these graphics 'cause they still look semi-modern to the consensual audience when they really could be pushing graphical capabilities for what is current and available.

Yeah, honestly, no, the graphcis aren't anywhere near a breach in technological limitations, but still, they look freaking awesome to me. Besides, I kinda like the actual STYLE they have to it (yeah you heard it, STYLE' as in, not photo-realistic)

Well, honestly, art design is wonderful and graphics will almost certainly at least look great. At least enough for anyone to have enough suspension of disbelief to be truly svcked into the game. It's not like consoles have changed their hardware in the last 5 years. The improvements upon Oblivion are quite noticeable. I'd like to see a bigger gap beetween Oblivion and Skyrim on PC though, but I'm not that hopeful, to be honest.

On the amount of graphic posts, well, it's not like there's a lot to go about the game at this point. Most of mechanics discussions boil down to absolute speculation and we have absolutely nothing tangible, as in a true gameplay video(calling the trailer a gameplay trailer is quite a stretch, honestly). What we can go on about is graphics. And boy, is it a hot topic apparently.

You just calling the trailer gameplay a stretch, so doesn't graphics boil down to speculation just like gameplay mechanics?

Yepper. Except there's way more to go on about graphics than there is on gameplay. I'm not saying either is even slightly representative of the final product(though I don't think we'll see the graphical department evolve to the point of blowing minds), all I'm saying is that we were given more of graphical aspects of the game than those of gameplay, and it wouldn't be different unles we had a half hour preview, given the complexity of the series.

True, but there is a lot of gameplay info floating around out there. More than 2 minutes and 54 seconds i'd say.

Indeed. I see your point and I agree entirely. I just find it that gameplay bases are totally covered. Bethesda has their hearts in the PRECISELY right place in many aspects of the gameplay fundamentals. Leveling in particular. It's mostly about proper execution and whatever extras make the cut or not. Graphical demands are more subjective and with the whole console planification, that is a fact, for good or for worse, I understand a community of a series that has been born on PC getting a bit riled up, with or without reason.

We need to stop focusing on other games, and focus more on what graphic improvements BGS has made since Oblivion and Fallout 3. That is what is important and is truly relevant for this forum. This game will not look as good as Battlefield 3 (nor will any game for a while) because Battlefield 3 was made to run exclusively using DX11 (which means a lot of people won't be playing the game). Keep in mind everything you have seen of Skyrim has been shown on the Xbox 360, and the game isn't even finished yet. Personally though, I think it looks great, especially the musculature on character models. No game has ever shown this much detail to the human body before! I don't think you have anything to be worried about to be quite honest.

You're forgetting Hitman:Blood Money. EVERY single male in the game was fit for Mister Olympia.

Yea because creating a new thread when there already is a graphics thread seven pages long on the first page of the forums is "highly constructive."

it's not the same thread if you'd pay attention. i am tempted to break the forum rules right now.

You already did.

And how is this graphics thread any different?

And why are you calling me out? There's multiple people in this thread that have pointed out the other graphics thread and linked you to it. So why me?

The game is coming out in 2011, but they started making it in 2006. Yes the graphics are outdated. Pretty much no game comes out at the highest graphics possible for it's time, because they take so long to develop. It is also being held back by the Xbox 360, which is starting to get behind in the graphics department due to its age.
