Concerns about Dragonvoice....

Post » Tue Feb 22, 2011 10:16 am

Will time stoppage and teleporting make the game to easy? So im surrounded by a squad of goblins, no arrows, broken sword and no health... no worries just stop time and run away. This is too convienient imo.

also in previous TES games... our PC has never had a voice.. listening to him/her speak will perhaps not fit in with my perception of him.

thoughts?

and please no 'dont like it dont use it'... comments.

I kind of agree but... if we are to beat dragons in a realistic way we need something overpowered, and I′d rather see my character be a bit too overpowered than see dragons be made underpowered to fit with peoples characters being just "normally strong", as for the voices if they do it like in Neverwinter Nights where you can choose your own voice from a group of voices then I just may like it, it may not be perfect but hearing my character actually doesn′t sound so bad, not to mention we already have heard our voices in for example Oblivion, just in the forms of grunts and such when we swung weapons and fell down a large distance.

Well, I doubt time will stop for very long.

And you have heard your character grunt and scream before. Did that ruin anything for you?

I'm concerned about the Dragon calls being too powerful but I'll take a wait and see approach before I make judgement.

I imagine that by the time youve fought for all these abilities anyways, your character will already be so powerful that very few creatures besides dragons could pose a threat to you. its not as if they just hand you over a list of all the dragon shouts at the beginning of the game. you have to fight and search for them so you will need to be powerful to begin with

I think the time slowing will be for a short time. It doesn't stop time. It says that it slows time around you so it would probably similar to the wizards Slow Time from Diablo 3. As for the teleporting, it is a blink effect, you only teleport a short way. I'm sure that the dragonshouts have some limitation to them other than just holding the button to create words.

Well it depends on how they are implemented. If they have a cooldown time or something like that it will be manageable. As for the voice I'm sure the sound guy is going to add a bunch of different effects to make it sound unique.

I would like the option not to use magic at all as I usually play stealth or fighter. I know I could just not use it but having any spells at all is an immersion breaker for a nord warrior character who focuses on weapon combat. So I hope that the dragon shouts are not too intrusive or essential.

I don't think dragon shouts are considered magic... more of a technique. Soo is that an immersion breaker that you Nordic warrior can use techniques?

I have a nasty feeling these will be implemented as greater powers, the same way as the powers from the birthsign doomstones. Don't mind the one per day cooldown, it's just that they never got used.

Seeing how big a feature they are, I'm certainly Beth have an idea how to balance them right.

That would be the perfect way for Dragon Shouts to be implemented. Have it be a once a day power.

I hope we at least get to pick from a list of grunt sound designs.
