Concerns about Halloween.

So, I'm sure some of you go out with your families and trick or treat.

Do you have any concerns that someone might tamper with the candy?

Like I don't know. Sticking razors or injecting types of hazardous cleaner into the candy?

Honestly you'd be surprised what you will find. Someone I know almost ate a razor eating candy. So I'm extra paranoid, and that was almost 6 years ago.

You just have to be careful. I'd let my kids do trick or treating if I had any just for the fun of dressing up and stuff. When we got home I'd just replace all the candy with bags I would buy myself.

My only concern is not having enough treats to give kids.

No.

These things rarely, if ever happen. And when they do they are usually benign like the woman who gave out Steel Wool to kids she thought were too old to trick or treat. The reports of candy tampering are almost always debunked or proven false later on or the work of an inside person, meaning siblings.

It is simply to easy to detect the tampering, as the package would have a slit in it that would be immediately noticeable for razor blades. Contrary to what the nightly news would like you to believe, there are very few real sickos in the world. Even if this were to occur, the damage would be limited to cuts and scraqes of the mouth tissue, and that always heels quickly.

What you should really be worried about is the effect that the sugar and fat have on the children.

Not really. The reason those stories get reported is they're so low in happening that when they do it's note worthy. It's a very low probablity that it's not worth worrying about on an active scale. But that doesn't mean logical thinking isn't applicable, always go through the candy to check for unusual signs of possible tampering.

*Sigh* No, I'm not. We're going trick-or-treating around uni, and a lot of people are giving us free drinks :D stopped back to have some more drinking games, and I'm posting until it's my turn.

Gotta go!

I'm actually more concerned with advlt trick-or-treating when drinks are provided. Don't get me wrong, I like the booze, I'm just not sure I trust random drinks.

I'm watchful and always informed my kids but nothing bad has ever really happened at least where I live. I'm just always cautious is all.

There is almost no reason to expect something bad in the candy. If I recall correctly there has only been ~10 incidents total of candy tampering since the 1950s to today.

Not finding enough razors in the candy...

But diabetes might be worst

No you shouldn't, and I don't. But I don't care for caution, so let's see if I live or not.

I think there is a better chance of it raining urine then someone tampering with children's candy. The kind of people that are sick enough to do something like that are to busy downloading porm on their computers and shaving their neck beards to actually put any effort into harming children. Plus if they do their petty existence would be brought to a halt by the police dragging him off to jail.

I guess I shouldn't say anything because I dressed up as a legionnaire and handed out bags of "Fireballs" & "Atomic Warheads" to the older kids and nicer candies to the younger ones. I mean seriously who still dresses up and trick or treats at 16 and 18? That is creepier than a 50 year old stalker putting razor blades in my daughter's candy, by the way if you're wondering my daughter dressed up as a mini Caesar and yelled at me in Latin the whole time we were out.

Not really. It's not really a thing here: I remember trick-or-treat being a brief and largely unwelcome thing in the '90s, hated equally by kids and people who they were bothering, but it's kinda died off. A pity, before trick-or-treat, I remember things like Hallowe'en parties and going around scaring the pants off each other, and the annual ritual of making a not-very-scary lantern out of a large turnip, but it seems like it's entirely ignored nowadays. Though the other nearby event of Guy Fawkes' Night has fared little better compared to what seemed like its heyday in my youth (which was the 1970s, to be clear).
