2 concerns...

Post » Sun Nov 21, 2010 7:55 pm

1.i have noticed that the games are very much split.... as in, when your in matchmaking, the game will find players at your level (in the missions) with as many players as possible with your same placing in the mission, and then if you fail in the mission, it will have to find another game where somehow at the EXACT same time this new game will have to have just won the previouse mission, and blah blah blah (as in the list goes on and on). will brink have enough players and games to make matchmaking a quick process?

2.my internet connection is horrible, and i keep on getting booted. is brink going to make it so you dont need online play to play offline? as in the data of your customisation is saved to your console/computers memory so you wont need the game to gather information from your online acount (which would require internet) every time you play offline?

It's not that difficult, really.

There are four brackets, Level 1-5, 6-10, 11-15 and 16-20 in which the game will put the players against each other.

If there aren't enough people for your level range, the game will simply fill up with bots.

We can safely assume, I guess, that the system in place will be setup so that it will wait a reasonable moment - let's arbitrarily say 60 seconds - only if there is at least one ongoing game in your bracket that is about to end or enough people looking to join a new game. Keep in mind that all one needs is for another game in the same bracket for the same mission to end with the other team the winner (security if your game ended with resistance winning, for example) for two new matchups to be ready; both losing teams replaying the mission against each other, both winning teams moving forward to the next mission.

Curious to see how good those bots are.

So far, reports and interviews seem to indicate that unless you're playing on a mic-enabled server where everyone IS actively communicating, most people won't notice that they're bots. They might not play like competitive/pro players, but good enough to pass for a decent human opponent.

Or so the hype says...

Basicly they act comprehensible. Where normal bots would always go for the enemy by either using wallhacking-mechanics or "go-to-enemy-spawn"-routes, the bots in BRINK seem to mimic real players in the best way possible.

Yummy... :goodjob:

I "may" consider they act like humans if :

a) they don't shoot you intentionally when you "flash" them (if...we have any sort of flashbang)
b ) they hide only when they have to, and do not stupidly wait for you to come and get them (remark...I see lot of humans do that too  )
c) they insult you, calling you a cheater if you kick their virtual asses
d) they know what the word "teamwork" means

I assumer depending on the bracket, the difficulty goes up. For instance, a lvl 20 bracket would have Veteran lvl (COD), insane lvl (GOW), or Legendary lvl (HALO) bots.....whatever they call their difficulties....

ET:QW had decent to good bots overal imho.

Would seem reasonable.
In private matches they will probably have the choice though.

Not sure... My understanding had been that there'd be one "bot AI" that would try to emulate a human player as much as possible, and that just like any other player their characters would level live yours. Once you hit level 10 and unlock tier 3 abilities, so would the bots, and they would become all the harder to handle because of the extra tools at their disposal.

Although having different difficulty settings would be very welcomed.

And would be abused as an exp farming method............

Oh, right, so true... ?_? Guess the single AI idea is the best option then, glad that's the choice they - I think - have chosen to follow.

I'm sure they've argued amongst themselves about this very same issue and is why they chose this. I'm glad though. Last thing I want to see is a lvl 20 who doesn't know how to win a one on one fight against a lvl 15......

they wouldn't have had to won the previous mission - the server would simply need to playing the mission you're on.

This HAS to be the most infuriating business model I can think of. While I liked DragonAge, I was so pissed I couldn't play it - offline - when at work (can'tnot authorized to connect personal computers to the corporate wifi) because the game couldn't validate I had rightful access to my DLC. Too bad, guess I won't be buying any new Bioware title until they change THAT policy. svcks, because DA2 looked pretty nice...

It has more to do with EA than Bioware.

Its actually perfectly legal to use a crack for a game if you own it, so I would just go download a crack if there's a draconian DRM that is in the way.

That it be legal doesn't change the fact that Bioware (or EA or whoever) policy is a PITA and, in itself, reason enough for me not to buy their games...

exactly, you don't buy games so that you have to modify them before you can play. if your in a position of needing online validation and unable to provide . good chance you wont be able to download the crack either

True enough, but in the situation he described, a crack would be an easy fix if he still wanted to play the game. Just offering suggestions.

I'va always been a huge fan of 'cd/dvd-free' cracks (you know, there's a reason I chose full install...) and anything that makes use of the game more enjoyable; although I wouldn't use anything that alters gameplay ("yeah, I beat that game, but I had to use cheatX because I'm not good enough to get trough it otherwise")...

In the end I did get a crack for DA, I just got very pissed the first time I brought my laptop to work on a saturday expecting to play my brand new game...
