I'm having the same problem. I hope this gets fixed soon...
I have this issue too, over 20+ hours into the game and I saved after the bar fight to go to bed the one night, woke up the next morning to find out all about this bug. its incredibly pathetic that Bethesda isn't even giving us answers, I have started my own topic on it, I have sent in a support ticket about it, and I have received nothing except an automated email telling me to check the FAQS section for my issue. They just simply don't seem to care, I even see the forum admins log on and off and still not even so much as a reply saying that they are looking into it. Not to mention how does a bug this big and common make it through production?
I have this same exact problem, with no way to fix it except to restart the whole damn game. I noticed that Bull and Gouger were marked as "essential" and figured maybe it was a part of the quest and there was a key I had to find to free Vadim (like it was another of his elaborate schemes to boost Travis's confidence). A quick look at a few message boards revealed that that wasn't the case. I tried reloading saves, I tried keeping the two "essential" characters down long enough to get Travis into the room to save Vadim, and it seems like there is no way to fix this without hacking my PS4. I've been a long time fan of Bethesda and especially of the Fallout franchise, but this is an egregious error, especially in not posting a patch. I don't even want to play the game anymore, I'm so frustrated. Get your [censored] together, Bethesda!
I completely agree. I tried everything that I could think of, and as it stand right now the only way to fix this bug is console commands if your playing on pc. if your playing on a console you are SOL if you saved after the bar fight. When did game companies stop having their games play tested for bugs and stuff? since when did it become "We will release the game and let the people paying us and keeping our jobs alive find the bugs and MAYBE fix them months down the road." Like [censored] Bethesda, YOU GUYS YOURSELF announced completed production on fallout 4 a week before its release, THAT'S A FULL WEEK! you had to have at least ONE PERSON play test your [censored] game to find bugs, so that you can fix them ASAP, and you cant say that its "highly unlikely the play tester would have found this bug" when the game hasn't even been out for a week and everybody who bought the game is finding it, and if this game WAS Play tested, all of the play testers should be straight up fired.
I stopped playing until a patch comes out. I don't want to restart (If I have too) or encounter any more bugs. To be honest, this bug killed the mood for me.. like I was enjoying the game and was immersed, but then this happened. I hate having to fear running into another [potentially game breaking] bug instead of having fun with the game.
This, is exactly how I feel about it aswell. I was practically addicted, and then BAM this glitch hit me in the face and the whole reason I don't want to restart my game is for fear of it all just repeating itself with another game breaking glitch, since clearly there are quite a few out there, this forum is proof enough, and google will show you oh so much more proof.
And it's not like it's in an obscure quest that you have to really dig to find. I got it from visiting the inn a few times. I'm so disappointed; I had a whole day off and was going to play Fallout 4 all day, but now I don't even want to

Makes you wonder what were they doing during the "polishing" stage. Shame on us for thinking this game would be released "bug free" right? Then again.. I expected there would be... but this???
I'm just venting at this point
PLEASE PLEASELEASE FIX THIS QUEST LINE , IV JUST LOST 6 HRS WORTH OF GAME DUE TO THIS!!!!! IV HAVE CLEARED OUT THE BREWERY BEFORE THIS QUEST NOT SURE IF THAT CONTRIBUTED TO IT. REAL IMMERSION KILLER!!!!!!!!!!!
Same issue here. I try to keep honest and go back to a previous save if I lose all my health. But it would be annoying if he stuck around the whole game which is why I'm glad I had a save point before I entered the place.
