Some Romans in the Ancient Era uses skirts, Caesar Legion reflects this, they are gay for that?

It's a good perk to have, especially if you fight the legion at the end because they're all men.

In the UK the phrase "confirmed bachelor" was used in "broadsheet" obituaries until at least the 70's as code for gay. See also "didn't suffer fools gladly" (short tempered), "fun loving" (slapper), "tired and emotional" (drunk), etc.

I think Veronica is the one who said that, she doesn't have a drinking problem and hasn't ever lied to the Courier. Also it's confirmed by Major Knight, who basically says the same thing as Veronica.

I never really liked how confirmed bachelor is considered a gay term because if you think about it, it just means he'll never marry. Which could mean he's a player or gay but w/e I guess it's better then calling the Perk "Gay Man" or something lol.

Legionaries sometimes say "The new slave girls are quite beautiful" in predatory voices. And that one slave said that they usually leave the too young and too old alone (emphasis on "usually"), which they would not do for reproductive reasons. So it seems more likely that they don't have a higher ratio of homosixuals than anyone else.

I'm using this perk right now.

It's not all that great, I still have to pay lots of caps for Major Knight to repair my stuff. Arcade is a follower and I don't feel like having to worry about followers and I don't find them all that useful. But it's better than it's female counter-part. I think I found one line of dialogue with that perk, I know there's more but when I looked it seemed as though most of it was useless. I'd rather wait until I have a high enough speech or barter for dialogue. I like to keep my perks for something more useful.

It's great if you'll looking to maximize the amount of damage you can do. But I don't have much of a problem taking down human enemies. The Brush gun takes care of that. :disguise:

The docter at Camp Falorn Hope has made some 'interesting' comments to me recently (I have the confirmed bachelor perk- easiest way to get Arcade to be your companion).

she lies when you 1st met her and she say 'i hear' meaning that it was probably jusr some anti legion talk the only followers opinion on the legion i trust is rauls as he has been in legion territory

She lies to you for 5 whole seconds wow I guess we shouldn't trust her now huh.

2 best combo perks IMO are confirmed bachelor + lady killer perks. You get special speech options that make some quests alot easier, plus +10% damage across the board against all human and intelligent ghouls. (lots of those in the games).

like I said, the fact that legionnaires often have sixual intercourse with each other is confirmed by Major Knight, one of the few people in the game outside the Legion (and the only one who's part of the NCR) who says something positive about the Legion. He says the Legion is more accepting when it comes to ''friendships'' if you have the Confirmed Bachelor perk. Besides, there's no one in the game who says the Legion doesn't tolerate homosixual relationships, while there are two who say the Legion does , in fact, tolerate them.

If you must make a big deal out of this, here are a few thoughts:

It's not that everybody in the Legion is gay - it's probably more like homosixual intercourse is accepted/tolerated/common/whatever, which is not very odd in a culture that:
1. believes women to be inferior creatures and emphasises physical prowess
2. keeps most of their men in military camps and the women away at home caring for babies
3. bases itself on ancient Roman culture with its often lenient views on homosixual six (as long as one was the 'top' at least)

That kind of attitude would lead to people both being aware that male/male six was not particularily frowned upon by the Legion, and possibly, when unfavorably disposed towards that faction, statements like 'they all mount each other, all the time'. It's, you know, rumour with a grain of truth.

As a side note - homosixuality as an actual orientation, as opposed to just mutual sixual relief, is in fact punishable by death in the Legion. Talk to Jimmy the male prosttute in Westside, who was in fact a former Legion six slave.

One possibility is that the Legion tolerates- or even encourages- homosixual six among its troops as a means of social bonding and morale boosting.

In the ancient Greek and Roman culture (the Legion being explicitly modelled on the latter) sixual relations between soldiers were seen as beneficial for their fighting spirit; it was assumed that the soldiers would fight more fiercely and would be less susceptible to cowardise when they knew that their lovers were watching.
