Confirmed that opening containers with mouseover is annoying

Post » Mon Dec 07, 2015 6:03 pm

This is has been discussed before but it was left more or less at the "we will see how the looting system feels, when we play it". Well, after seeing a lot of gameplay footage and parts of a 2h footage that leaked recently, even if real time looting is great, mouse-over opening is, beyond the shadow of a doubt, quite annoying! Haven't seen any options to disable it - must we mod it out of the game?

Again, I have to see how it works in the game before I condemn it. You should to. Follow your own advice.

There is absolutely no doubt about it being annoying. Actually if it annoyed me in the videos I watched that much, it will certainly annoy me much more in gameplay. I have no doubts about that after seeing so much gameplay footage.

How would it not affect you if mechanically the feature functions the same for both m&k and controller?

I have no clue what you guys are talking about.. don't you have to use the mouse in every looting system to open chests, scroll through container items and take what you want?

I think it looks fine. I had worries about it at first, but the loot box really doesnt take up much room imo.

The way it works is if you aim at a corpse/container you'll get a pop-up listing the items on the corpse/in the container, it's all in real-time. This can be distracting when you're just trying to stay alive in a fight.

Errr yes I don't see how it won't affect you.

You search a room, hear something behind you... you turn arouGZZZZDUPPPPP 952 pop up windows open up on your screen and close instantly, atmosphere killed. You are chasing an enemy in an epic chase throughout a complex. Puff... puff... puff.... windows open and close instantly like it's some kind of graphical glitch, epicess gone. It's like these ad pop ups in your browser if you don't have adblock plus, especially in those porm sites... not that I would know anything about that.

That does sound annoying.

We can either hope they fix it in a patch or we turn to the age old solution of mods.

Think its one of those things that may be annoying at first but easily adapted to.

Otherwise, press A to bring up overlay and then A again to loot all items.

:goodjob:

oh, .. well maybe there's an option to turn it off and all the game leakers are idiots who haven't explored all the game options.

Yes, this seems very natural to me and has been done since ever. Press button to open, press button to loot. What's next? Mouse-over enemies to automatically shoot?

Adapt? It's like saying "adapt to browser pop ups and ads". I don't see how and more importantly why you can/should adapt to such an annoying thing.

Err... It's all gonna be great forget of what I said! :(

No really, it is going to be an easy thing to get rid of, even if it doesn't have an off switch, so zero harm done. What I am curious of is just what were they thinking when they made it like that -.-

the best thing about using controller on a pc is heavy level of aim assist +the very slow Look speed compared to 2000dpi mouse its slower to get on target but you have alot less mouse over issues.

as for "atmosphere killed" yeah never bin person that can have their atmosphere killed from popup annoyed yes.

anyways i like this change lowering the amount of "looting something time for all time too stand still" in the game the better.

Except the pop up thing I also don't like telepathically looting while moving so... Aim assist? Ok you win, that's even worse :P

Is that really surprising though? I mean it just sounds obnoxious.

A sensible solution would be so that during combat it doesn't pop-up automatically, but works as in previous games.

not trying to win anything you asked for my opinion and other peoples when you opened this thread. i gave it there is no win i like this change you apparently don't case closed.

as for telepathically looting i could say the same about time slowing too Zero when i open filing cabinet in fallout 3/nv and skyrim.

however i do think they should have given the choice on this issue as preferences can vary so people should have classic looting option or the new way.

kinda like classic control panel or the new one.

Sounds as annoying as the pop ups in the other games for looting or conversations... Damn it... Now I'll have to UNplay those due to completely warranted rage.

Neither am I just trying to explain how I see it.

As I mention in the OP real time looting is a great change. One does not exclude the other. Personally I would prefer if it was real time looting by pressing a key.

How will this work with your own containers with 1000 items? or if you loot an trader or other with lots of loot.

Honestly I do not think it will be much trouble. THink about where the regular containers are located. On the ground (corpses, chests, safes) or just below eyesight (first aid boxes, counters, desks etc.) Plus I have rarely seen a lot of loose clutter on them, so unless you are frequently hiding behind stuff that might have items in or on it, or are always looking at the ground you are more than safe.
