Conflict + Opinion Question

Post » Thu Jun 17, 2010 5:39 pm

I can use Vality's Bittercoast/Balmora/Ascadian Isels mod and then put Vurt's trees over them correct? Everything will work fine?

Next I have been using Vality's Grass forever, but Vurt's Ground Cover looks much better in my opinion (and I want to try it out), does his ground cover mod basically replace the grass mod by Vality and Yacoby?

Yes to both questions. However, unless your computer is fairly high-end, I wouldn't recommend using vurt's trees in combination with Vality's plugins, because vurt's trees are more FPS-intensive than either Vality's or the default trees, and your framerate will probably be unplayable with all of the added trees from Vality's plugin.

I think I should be able to handle it... worth trying out now at least.

260x2 in SLI, i7 920, 12gb of Ram

I can always revert back.

Is Vurt's Ground Cover considered the newer better version compared to Vality's?

Yes, VGC does the same thing but it has lots of different types of grass, and it varies depending on which region you're in. You'll also need Muspila's http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=8353, since Vurt's mod doesn't cover those regions.

Give it a try, certainly, but don't be surprised if the tree density kills your framerate -- Morrowind doesn't really utilize your GPU, and while MGE does, the CPU can still get bogged down by so many statics.

Good luck!

I used to run both tree mods and it is taxing on your vid card so mileage will vary depending on your system. I ended up finally doing away with vality's ascadian isles mod for this reason and also because they don't look the best when using MGE distant land. I still use the bitter coast one but with connary's textures (these trees are fine with distant land btw).

As to grass... Yes Vurts is superior aesthetically IMO and I don't think you should use them together. Other options if you're so inclined would be... If you're comfortable with the CS you can change the meshes in vality's original grass mod to use to Vurts meshes and textures. You can even generate your own esp with yacoby's generator but there's a fair bit of work involved with getting everything nice.

Have fun.

Thank everyone. Yeah I didn't think you could use both grass mods, wasn't even planning on it, I could mess around with them in the CS, but I'm only good with little things.
