Conflicting Info... Physical Copy ON Release Day?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 7:43 pm

Does anyone know if the game in physical form... be it a standard copy, Pipboy edition, etc... will arrive at your door ON launch day? The website states:

Standard: UPS SurePost or USPS, 5-10 postal days from the ship date on your shipping confirmation.

Expedited: UPS or USPS Priority Mail depending on your delivery zone, 2-3 business days from the ship date on your shipping confirmation.

But then I've heard from Twitter references that the game will in fact reach your door on release day much like Amazon does. Does anyone know the truth on that? If it does reach you on launch day, is that ONLY Expedited shipping?

There can always be delays in the mail. When I bought the Fallout Anthology, it was shipped on Friday and I got it on Tuesday which was the release date. Unless, you are in some crazy location or there is some delay with your mail, then you should get it on November 10.

Yeah definitely not in any strange location. I had found comments made from people referencing Bethesda staff via Twitter. The first comment said something like, "I'll look into it" and then another that was less than official sounding that said it will arrive on launch day. I'm just not sure if they were being truthful, or just trolling.

If it's anything like my pre-order through Walmart, you should receive it on release day. I believe they accomplish this by sending it out a day or two early.

Right. That's what I'm hoping for. Otherwise I need to buy another copy of the game digitally to play on launch day. :P But I haven't seen anything written in stone yet to confirm that. I chose the expedited shipping option but it does say it's 2-3 days. Which is concerning.

This is why I don't pre-order copies that have to ship to my house by mail. There's always a chance it'll be delayed somehow.

Of course there's also a chance you'll get it early.

Unfortunately if I did... the best I could do is possibly pre-load it or install most of it. I can't imagine with the use of Steam I'd be able to actually play it before the release date. The only reason I'm at all concerned is that I have three days off right at release. I'd like an opportunity to play it. If not, I'll have to make other arrangements for a key.

Ah. I'm a console guy so I'm not too familiar with PC preordering, Steam unlocking and so on. I preordered a physical disc from a retailer that I plan to pick up in person on the morning of the release. But like you, I'm still slightly tempted to preorder digitally as well as a backup.

It depends on whose shipping it. IF you paid for next day delivery then its likely it will arrive on release day. As the company will ship it the day before. However if you have 5 to 10 day shipping I highly doubt it. Sometimes shipping companies wouldn't pay attention to "do not deliver until x date" messages and games or books would show up a day or two early. So now most companies only ship the product the day before its actual release date. Either to keep it from arriving early or to encourage you to pay extra for one day shipping. Now 3 to 5 day shipping maybe.

Bethesda's store doesn't have next day delivery. It's either 5-10 or 2-3. At least when I ordered. There's no mention anywhere if you'll get it on the release day. Only those references to Twitter.

I don't know about the Bethesda store, with 2-3 days maybe but don't count on it. If you pre-order something from gamestop they'll send you an email later encouraging you to upgrade to next day shipping so it will arrive on release day.

Yeah I've not gotten any e-mails from them. Just one after the order that shows the purchase and tells me they will send me a link later to track my order once it ships. It then shows that the game ships November 10th.

Ah, my reply email from Walmart said it'd arrive on the 10th. I'd suggest contacting Bethesda ASAP to see when they anticipate their pre-order physical copies to arrive. It'll let you plan your launch day and possibly upgrade to next day should they wait to ship on the 10th. At least then you'll only have to wait until the 11th.

I live in one of those remote areas and if I hadn't had confirmation from Walmart I wouldn't be able to expect it for a week, normally. Hopefully that won't happen with your order.

I was hoping someone had already gotten the answer... but I sent support a ticket. I really hate bogging down the system with questions asked/answered a million times. Just not finding a definitive answer anywhere. Once I hear back, I'll be updating my original post.

I pre-ordered it through Amazon seconds after it was revealed... Amazon is usually really good about getting it there on launch day. Halo 5 came launch day. I'm just hoping no one steals my pip-boy edition off my door steps before I get home.

I ordered from the Bethesda store myself. I believe it doesn't ship out until launch day. But I got one of the pip boys released last week. Maybe that's why it will take longer for me. But it said 2-3 days so I'm expecting the 12-13th

Retailers have been getting better with delivering the games on release day. I pre-ordered the PS4 Pip Boy Edition through BestBuy.ca and based on the past several pre-orders (Destiny PS4 console, MGSV, Elder Scrolls, Arkham Knight), it will be arriving Day One!

I hope the Beth Store gets it to you on Day One as well!

I'd imagine it ships out the day before launch and then it simply depends on where you live. That way the earliest you can get it is release day. But it would be sweet if they shipped a few days in advance so everyone had it on launch day. It doesn't matter much to me since I won't have time to play it until the weekend, so I can wait a few days.

Actually I just checked my pre-order confirmation, which states the order will ship on November 10. So Beth store is shipping orders on launch day.

But is that same day delivery? The only options at the Beth store it let me choose were Standard (5-7 Business Days) or Expidited ( 2-3 Business days). Mine says shipping on the 10th as well but I don't think that means same day delivery.

I got an email from Bethstore saying they are working on getting orders to people so they have the game to us on launch day, and will keep me updated. Of course, I also signed up for next day shipping, so we will see.

I'm not worried though, as that is my pip boy edition, I'm picking a physical copy up at midnight.

Not worried either, but it would be risky of them to send out it in advance in case some mailman decides to open a package and post a review =)
