Confused about air stomp and tagging

I don't understand how the air stomp and tagging work in this game. :(

At first I thought that air stomp requires the player to do it within a certain height before it can actually kill enemies. However, I've been killed few times when the player is barely a meter from the ground when activating air stomp - even when I have full health and armor energy and I'm far away (both vertically and horizontally). But when I try to air stomp the same way it always either doesn't kill anyone or only scratches the armor. Does air stomp just calculate how high you have been in the air (or how much you have fallen) but it doesn't calculate when you actually activate it? Or is it another thing completely randomized by lag?

Moving on to tagging, the amount of time the player remains tagged feels like there is something wrong with it. Sometimes the tagged player remains tagged for long time, sometimes it fades away really fast. Once again, I thought that the tag disappears after there is no line of sight. But then I noticed I was still tagged even though no one was in line of sight (I hid to a small room and radar showed that the entire enemy team was far away). And I have tagged few enemies who lose the tag when few seconds when I still can see them.

TL;DR - Does it actually matter how high you are in the air when doing air stomp? Why do the players sometimes lose the tag almost instantly while it sometimes take forever no matter the conditions?

I find that the tagging goes away faster if you go into cloak and move away from the person that tagged you. But as far as the airstomp goes I believe its how high you jump initially that matters. Also be weary where your enemies are because if they aren't perfectly level with you or on a little block or an incline your damage will be severely nerfed or you wont even hit him.

Actually, I think air-stomp works by how much you've been falling down, i.e with what force gravity pulls you down.
