I am confused about 3D

Post » Thu Dec 02, 2010 12:59 am

I read somewhere, that 3D can be used on any monitor or TV, that are available, but in the Demo, I somehow only get the Side-by-Side effect, wich I think the monitor has to manage. So, will the retail game feature 3D without 120Hz monitor? It would be sad, to waste 300€ for a little effect :/

Oh and btw, could somebody explain me the Side-by-Side thing? I am kinda uninformed about it.

It's called stereoscopy. To put it simply, the screen alternates between two slightly different images at 120Hz and the glasses (which synchronize with the display) make it so that each eye only sees every other frame (60FPS per eye).

ok that's awesome...but...why when I pute sde-by-side...the screen divides in two?...
when I saw the 3D TV's on the stores looks like double -image...but...in side-by-side looks like two screens in one?

The 3D Stereoscope is to be used with an LCD monitor that is not 3D ready

3D Stereoscope does not need to be used with 3D TV as a 3D TV more than likely comes with its own 3D glasses or as an accessory by its manufacture

So if you have a 3D TV, you dont need Stereoscope, what you would need is the nVidia 3D TV Play http://store.nvidia.com/DRHM/store?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=nvidia&Locale=en_US&Env=BASE&productID=206491300&&resid=TUyuXAoBAlgAAG-FZJYAAAAN&rests=1296871004394

I had the same problem with my 360... My Ps3 goes into 3d automatically, so I was all confused when activated 3d on my 360 (for the first time). I actually had to put it into side-by-side mode first, then go into the TVs 3d settings and also set it to side-by-side. It then made it look like that double image .

Then, how do we use the stereoscope 3D on a normal LCD? I mean, With two images side-by-side, there's no 3D effect for me.
