I'm confused: is character height adjustable or not?

Post » Mon Nov 28, 2011 6:03 pm

The guy who wrote http://thisismyjoystick.com/feature/hands-on-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim says that character height is adjustable (second last sentence above the image showing a warrior from behind). However, in a video I saw there were no sign whatsoever of any height slider. So, who's right? The author of the article or the video?

P.S: The video was uploaded 6 days before the article was posted. Perhaps the author played a more up-to-date version of the game?

EDIT: Removed video link due to possible violations of forum rules.

To my knowledge, character height is changeable.

I thought it was per race.

I'd bet that they're in. Keep in mind that the demo videos aren't showcasing the full, complete game.

There's probably a range for each race, so as NOT to make a lore-contradicting character (ie. tall Bosmer or short Altmer).

Height is not changeable, it depends on what race you are.

There is a weight slider though...

Each race has its own height. You can't adjust it. Not everyone will be the same height, but all Dunmer will be the same height as all other Dunmer, etc...

So why the hell they wrote in the article that you can adjust height of your character no matter of race you are?

Hopefully there's some small slider you can adjust. It would add some variation between the races, rather than everyone being the same height (within their respectable race, of course).

If you're playing on a PC you can still use the console command to alter your size so it shouldn't be much of an issue anyway xD

I'm SO making my companion a tiny miniature to follow me around! <3

He's gonna be a badass warrior too!

I highly doubt the author of the article is lying. What would he gain from that?

Difference between lying and misunderstanding. It's confirmed height is not adjustable. All races are different heights.

So he missunderstood what he saw on the screen while testing the game? Seems unlikely (unless he has bad eyesight).

People seriously, the author can't have made a mistake, if he says we can adjust height then we can.

I hope he is right, why would you be able to change your general build, and not be able to change your height? Sense that does not make.

Anywho, I'll just pretend/convince myself that there is no height slider/thingamabob so as not to be dissapointed...

You're going to be disappointed. Pete confirmed you cannot adjust height due to body/armor meshes. This wouldn't be the first time a journo was wrong.

Unless his tongue slipped one character from Weight to Height :o
The only video that can be publicly found about the Character Creation phase clearly shows there is a weight but not a height slider.
Of course it was the an old demo build. So Height could have been added later, only Bethesda knows. Maybe go annoy Pete about it? :P
