Look at all those angry Witcher 3 fan boys in the comments lol
Summary for those of you who dont want to read the whole thing.
GOTY = Fallout 4
Outstanding achievement in game direction = Fallout 4
Mobile game of the year = Fallout shelter
Role Playing/Massively Multiplayer game of the year = Fallout 4
Congrats to Bethesda for getting Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction, and Mobile Game of the Year (Fallout: Shelter).
But..
"Role-Playing/Massively Multiplayer Game of the Year
Winner: Fallout 4"
Pardon? Me thinks somebody goofed...
Also, why the heck did they group role playing with massively multiplayer game?
Nice and deserved. I bought both FO4 and the W3 around the same time and they are both as equally good imo for many different reasons. Both really labour's of love.
Well, there's a lot of things that don't make a lot of sense in the categories alone.
Well,I'm surprised.I'm a huge fallout fan, massive Bethesda supporter and only picked up the witcher series before the third came out.
I have to be honest and say that I enjoyed the witcher 3 more than Fallout 4.I don't really know why.
I have no idea why the people who love playing The Witcher video games are mad when The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt also won a bunch of awards.
Can't top laughing at the butthurt Witcher/Obsidian fans in the comments
I personally think the Witcher 3 was terrible, but I don't hate it. What I do hate are Witcher 3 fan boys that treat the game like the second coming of Jesus and relentlessly attack anyone who disagrees with their opinion on the game. There are a lot of them unfortunately.
It's great isn't it
They are are different games anyway.Perhaps Witcher 3 just rubbed my feelings the right way lol
Wow, the comments section on that article is really spiteful! I played The Witcher 3 and really enjoyed it, although there were a few things I disliked (such as the pacing of the quests and finding you've out levelled the main story line, meaning don't get much xp from doing some of the quests) but I think Fallout 4 deserved the awards it got. I'm still enjoying it and can see myself continuing to do so, whereas I can't honestly say I'll play through The Witcher 3 again, despite how good the storyline and some of the characters are.
Maybe they realize this award here is more important than those given by small gaming blogs
Ha. This brings a smile to my face.
I recognise that TW3 is likely the better game and deserves the GOTY wins it has
but I enjoy playing Fallout 4 more.
That thread is hilarious...
This shows a gap between user (player) favorite and professional (industry) favorite. Bethesda and its game design has always been appreciated inside the industry. They have done well remaining faithful to their principles, there's enough classic rpgs that follow the classic formulas more strictly.
The winners of the Interactive Achievement Awards are determined by secure ballot of industry experts. These experts comprise a body of accomplishments in all facets of game craft: art, design, engineering, animation, performance and production. All Academy voting is conducted in secret-online, secure, supervised and certified by eBallot Inc.
Actually I'm quite sure that if "GOTY" was based on how favourite/popular a game is, Fallout 4 would beat anything. Maybe aside from Rocket League.
honestly it makes no difference for me, I knew FO4 would be my most anticipated game and it didn't disappoint BUT the thing that put me off buying witcher is CD unwillingness to HD port the first two witchers to playstation 4. I know i'm probably being stubborn but I just cannot allow myself to play witcher 3 without playing the first two. Since those games follow the same story(unlike fallout or elder scrolls) playing it in order is very important.
I'm sure Witcher 3 can be fun HOWEVER they really messed up the launch of that game. Needing 17GB's of patching to be functional while purposely removing content from the game to sell it as extra dlc, free or not that's BAD business practice and i'm surprised people haven't attacked them for it. Yet people jump heavily over Bethesda's decision to increase the season pass. I swear something is wrong with people
The fanboyism level in Witcher 3 community seems to be a stage-2 cancer.
I really don't get the outstanding achievement in game direction award.
Fallout 4 didn't really push the boundaries of the game's industry.
I think Fallout 4 should win Story award since it's so complex that not many can digest the story and get the point by the ending. lol
