Conjuration discussion: bound weapons

Post » Mon Dec 05, 2011 1:21 am

I'm level 24 and love my Atronach (I love her backflips). I perked for a stronger Atro and am going for the perk that allows me to get two of them.
I've been use bow for ranged and bound swords for close combat.
The problem is that the bound swords are soooo damn slow getting out in time...I'm thinking about switching over to regular daggers for close combat.

Here's the question: What's the reason for the bound one-handed weapons....are they "broken" . The only purpose I see with still using them is the raise my Conjuration to get the double Atro perk. Anyone using bound swords successfully?

I've used them successfully many times. They have 0 weight and are stronger than anything you'll actually find until quite a bit later.

I use them for easier soul-binding. Other than that, I'm considering moving on to better weapons soon. (Can't poison 'em, or benefit from an enchantment :( )

They're kind of tricky to get right. My preferred method of using bound weapons is to keep them up and going anytime I'm in a hostile area. The second one goes down, I pull it right back up. If that's not an option, hit the button the second an enemy starts to turn toward you. You'll usually have just enough time to get the weapon conjured and be ready to fight. Yes, you'll occasionally take a hit or two, but that weightless factor really helps if your carrying capacity is prime real estate, like mine is.

My character has moved strictly to bound weapons. I find them quite effective. Sure it's a bit slow to use but the benefits out way that for me. (0 weight, free ammo every time you cast Bound Bow, less inventory clutter.)

When the need arises, I find dual Bound Swords to be quite effective as well. Just means I need to rely on potions more than Healing magic.
