Conjuration issues

Has anyone else encountered a problem where their elemental summons wont spawn in certain places? Ive never had this issue, but recently when i try to cast the summon, it wont work and I have no idea why. I hear the cast noise, but my mana immediately fills back up and the elemental is not summoned. Any Ideas?

Does the crosshair turn white before you release?

Yup. And I can even try casting over and over at the same spot without moving and eventually itll work

I read yesterday that it won't work if you target too far away. I meant to test cast it on the ground right in front of me, but I forgot to try it. Might be worth a shot, though.

Try looking down at the ground right in front of you and cast. There are distance restrictions and if your crosshairs are a little too high when you cast it will do exactly what you describe

Its def not a distance issue. And like I said, I can cast 3 or 4 times in the same exact spot and it wont work til the 3rd or 4th time. Theres no reason game-wise that it shouldnt cast. Is this a bug or something?

Hmm. Not sure. I've also had a similar thing where I think it's successfully cast, no visible atronach...until I go further into the cave/dungeon/wherever and it'll suddenly pop up at my back.

As others have said, making sure the crosshairs are white and not red means you are able to cast in that particular spot. One other thing that I found is that if I fail a cast and immediately try and cast again there is a small delay because when I release the trigger my Magicka is starting to regen and it has to be subtracted again to cast.

*Sigh* Ill say it again, its not a distance issue. The cross hairs are white and Im not casting in water or anything. I can be casting at my feet or at the max distance that the two points I have in that perk will allow. It doesnt matter. Even if I have full mana out of my pool of 496, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt

Since I know you don't have problems with range since you've mentioned it several times, I'll say that it's also happened to me, it just won't summon, everything looks good but the damn thing won't summon. Also sometimes my Wall spells won't stay either they just instantly fade out. Definitely glitchy, standard Bethesda stuff.

I have run into this glitch constantly, and sometimes my summons appear 20-30ft away instead of where I was aiming.
Any way I cast it, it makes the noise, but of the 3 possible responses, I get 'no summon' or 'summon 20ft away' more than four times as often as a summon actually appearing where I wanted it to.

Note: I do in fact watch my cursor when casting.

Yeah... Sounds like a glitch then :( i havent had this problem, thank god. I feel for the people who r cuz i love my summons

I never really had that issue until one area in the main quest. I would summon a pet and it would spawn on another level somewhere well out of range.

This happened to me a BUNCH of times.

Ends up it was working all along,but for some reason my summon would get summoned somewhere really far away from me that I wouldnt even notice.

I have had some casting issues when I am at a corner between the floor and a wall or outside when I am at the edge of a small hill I am casting on.....my wild guess is it seems to prefer a flat surface.

Yes! I have had this problem too and it's definitely some kind of glitch they need to look at. I have to cast three times before the damn thing appears, and it's annoying particularly when you have enemies running towards you.

Edit: Oddly enough, it happens more with a Frost Atronach than a fire one? Bah...

I wonder if you are casting in a dead zone, and the pet is being conjured into the ground?

I've lost several dragons that way... I kill them and they sink underground never to be seen again.

I've had this problem as well. The source is apparently magic absorb. I had the atronach stone on and saw that my conjuration spells failed more often. When I had the mage stone I would only see failure when I activated my dragonskin power.
