Conjuring a Loved One

Post » Tue Jun 23, 2015 10:36 am

Hey Guys. I was playing around, have Conjuration as a skill for this particular playthrough, and was wondering if it's possible in lore to conjure a loved one. I would assume in a sense it would be, but I mean in the terms of them being able to speak, hold conversations etc. Are there any instances of this happening in any of the games I'm not aware of?

I assume you mean a loved one who has died. This is certainly possible, in theory. Any corpse may be reanimated and most spirits may be bound as a mindless servant. Some Dunmer (in TES IV) may conjure their ancestors, and they seem to retain some or all of their free will, but still appear as a wraith, not their original form. A powerful necromancer would be able to summon spirits that can speak and retain their identities. The book "Palla" involves an enchanted item that can resurrect a loved one completely; while this book is fiction, it is entirely possible that such a thing could exist.
