Connary's Retextures Gonne?!

Post » Wed Feb 23, 2011 12:12 am

I don't know what to say that hasn't been said here before.
I worship the Gods on the Rugs you make!!

And the book! OMG!!
This book alone makes me want to be a necromancer.

Simply great. Morrowind is a game about details from lore to story. And your work compliments that!

I was worshipped in the pass Ghanima, isnt the best idea cause my bad daedra form take command of my mind.

Well, I guess we wouldn't want that then....or would we? :evil: But worshiping or not, everything looks wonderful!

Did you bump map the ghost gate? That looks lovely!

A simple bump map will usually leave a black line effect. If you look closely at Connary latest work you'll see the depth is still there but it's in color( not black lines). This is a high advance and very hard to do technique. It takes tons of hours just to get one texture looking right. This is why this is taking so long. It's a work of art.

All of Connary's work is art! :hehe: That's why his compendium is my most anticipated mod. :D It seems like I've been waiting forever, but I'll wait however long it takes. Perfection takes time. :)

How do I put the textures from BSAs into game?

Edit: Nevermind, found a post in this topic where my question is answered. :facepalm:

True. And you can't put a deadline on art. So we wait as long as we have to! ^_^

I was wondering, in all of connary's work so far, has he released anything bump mapped yet? He often uses textures with lot of depth that'd be best represented by bump mapping, and indeed often looks like they are in screenshots, though I can't quite tell if they are from a static shot.

Nope! But I agree, that many of them are so well done that they almost appear to be.

I don't think the Morrowind Code Patch (and its bump map fix) existed yet when Connary released his work. Maybe in his new compendium he will use bump mapping. But the textures look good either way.

I don't think that he does. It's been shown time and time again how much depth a good artist can put into a flat texture, and Connary is the best. :twirl:

Connary has used bump and reflection maps on some of his older stuff. Namely one of his versions of Daedric ruins, the large crystals, and I think a few minor Dwemer artifacts.

I might be wrong but I think Connary has said that he wouldn't be adding much if any bump/ref type textures to his compendium.

Anyway, like said, you can make a simple diffuse texture have the appearance of depth if your willing to put a bit of effort into it. And Connary is certainly very good at it. :)

Hm.. any problems with my bsa ? All is quite good ?

Hi Iv'e tried to use this in a new build of morrowind . on XP
I downloaded both parts of Connary's BSA v2.bsa unrared part 1 then unrahed part 2 into the same directory overwriting when asked with winRAH, put the resulting BSA into my Morrowind Data folder used bsareg to register the bsa which seemed to work, well basreg could see the bsa in my data directory & added it to my ini file except that no new entry showed up in my ini .

I then appended it manually to the end of my ini file but morrowind still can't see the bsa & when I start the game the entry is erased from my ini file.

GameFile0=Bloodmoon.esm
GameFile1=Morrowind Patch v1.6.5-BETA.esm
GameFile2=Morrowind.esm
GameFile3=Tribunal.esm
GameFile4=Connary's BSA v2.bsa but this line is erased as soon as I start morrowind
Iv'e been back for another look when I unrah the file I get a BSA that is 274,401 KB when i attempt to unrah part 2 I get the message would you like to replace the existing file 280.986.077 bytes with this one 280,968,077 an identical file I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but i'm sure it's something

I'm curious about what Connary has done with the ashlands. I assume it's also going to use the vanilla colours, so a bit more grey'ish.. The current released ashland retexture is pretty awesome too but it is http://www.tesnexus.com/imageshare/images/57416-1268762259.jpg. At least I think I'm using Connary's here, correct me if I'm wrong.

Beebee: I don't know why it's not working for you (Is it the Steam version of Morrowind you're playing?) but BSA's are not supposed to be added to the list of game files, that's for esp and esm files only.

Ok My bad but im getting nothing in game & I thing the issue is with the recompiling of the 2 parts of the rah I feel like i'm doing something wrong there but to tired now will have another go tomorrow Beebee
PS ok I found the entry in the ini file but I'm still not sure if i have the textures in game they all still look like standard morrowind ones to me .I will try taking out the BSA & install the full connary texture pack to see . I have been installing so many texture packs in the last few weeks that I'm not sure what morrowind looks like anymore

I could cry... I could just cry.

I want the new ones so badly... and I've had to wait for so very long.

Nobody has ever done a texture mod which I liked more than those made by Connary... and now... now it's 2010... it's the future... and I've had to re-re-re-install Morrowind yet again... and yet again I am without those wonderful mods which made my world feel so alive. T_T

Hope. All I can do... is hope...

It's been only a little under 3 months since Connary last posted new screenshots, so I'm still pretty optimistic. :)

I'm sure at some point he'll be back to amaze us once again with some teasers... And hopefully more. :laugh:

Hey Connary, I would send you a message, but that is of course impossible. *chuckle* Anyway, I just wanted to ask you a question about a few of your textures. If you have the time, could you get in touch when you see this? Thanks.

I am getting less optimistic. I realize that he was last online at the beginning of august and that what he does takes a lot of time...BUT it is now a very long time ago that he started this and nothing new has been shown for a long time as well. So i am very much beginning to doubt if we will ever see his finished compendium released. :sad:

I've seen him posting in the thread for his X3 project on the Egosoft forums a week ago or so, apparently his mod for that is nearly finished, so all his modding time is going there. Hopefully after that's done he'll get back down to earth... I mean Nirn! :D
