Connecting generators

Post » Fri Feb 26, 2016 9:20 am

Please forgive my ignorance, but I can construct all of the items I need (beacon, reflector platform, and generators). But how do I run a wire from the generators to the items? Do I make the wire from the workshop? I scrolled through all of the options in the workshop but none seemed appropriate.

Thanks for your help.

move your mouse over the generator and hit space. then move your mouse over the item you want to connect it to. hit space again.

Thank you Treng. I never would have figured that out.

I tried that. All that does is make me jump in the air but did not connect anything. The quest marker still shows at the workbench. Still frustrated.

I have all of the raw materials. But I do not see "wires" when I go into the workbench. There are tripwires but I did not think those would help.

wires used to cost copper now they dont sfter 1.3 they are resource free

the "connect wire" button and "jump" button are the same, so you need to be postioned right to get the wire rather than jump.

highlight the generator or pylon/switch etc and you should see "attach wire" option (in same area as the "scrap", "select" etc options), you need to see this to use a wire otherwise your character will jump instead.

once you click you should have a wire grabbed, it will be attached to whatever you started with, then you need to drag it to the other generator/pylon/switch/etc you wish to attach it to. when it is connected (it will kinda snap to that item) you need to push the button again to place it

it should be highlighted white if you can, if it is highlighted red you cant. usually you cant becasue you are trying to connect 2 things that are too far away from each other, or the wire is clipping through something.

Thanks hofmann. I finally realized that I need to be in workbench mode to click on the generators and items. I actually got the beacon running!!!
