Connection to Facebook?

as long as it's not necessary, or anything like Dragon Age Legends, or Assassins Creeds Project Legacy, i couldn't care less, i'll just ignore it if there is.

I think this is just a rumour without any substance to it.
I dont think its true.
Skyrim and facebook have nothing linking the two, it just wouldnt make sense.
Besides, how would it work for console players like me?

In the same way it worked in AC:Brotherhood as I have said countless times and/or The way (I'm not sure if this is on X360) that PSN automatically puts any earned trophies on your status if you link PSN and FaceBook , well Skyrim might say X has done this on your FaceBook rather than provide a trophy/achievement in-game

Oh Goddess, no... I can hardly stand the thing already - the less of it obtrusively flying into my annoyed face, the better.

Personally, I find facebook great for keeping in touch with friends and family. But I do not like this idea... Facebook and Skyrim should remain separate.... :spotted owl:

What's facebook doing in a single-player game?

That's what I'd like to know... <_<

Oh God, that would be awful.

"X has just purchased a Mithril Longsword for his character in Skyrim!!! Help him raise more septims today by becoming his friend!"

 Oh that WOULD be awful! But it made for a great joke! Haha!

I dislike this idea and i pretty much hate facebook. The Dovahkiin is the only friend i need!

but seriously im starting to get rather annoyed that everything i create an account for is nearly always trying make me connect it to my non-existent facebook profile.

Well the trophies option is done via account management on PSN.
So I don't think it'll be that, maybe for Xbox 360 and PC but that option is already available on Playstation 3.

Only connection I would be okay with seeing is the trophy thing above, which I already do post my trophies to facebook anyway, and maybe the option to post screenshots of your character or what you are doing in-game, and to add to that maybe even posting your progress on your story.

Project legacy had a few nice stories in it, Which I quite liked, but hated how they linked it to a real game and made it essential for acquiring certain items (which I did. I just didn't like it.)
I can't actually think of any way it could be beneficial, just a Nuisance to those sensible enough not to use Social Networking sites. And those who do actually...

StoneFrog just became the Grand Champion in Skyrim! Become his friend to send him a poke through the Adoring Fan NPC in the game!

"By Azura! By Azura! It's the- *cute Microsoft Sam voice* YOU. JUST. RECEIVED-A. POKE-FROM. T-ODD. HOW-ARD. *restore normalcy* Grand Champion!

I'm laughing at the thought of all of my friends' top feeds being crammed full of "ANON IS PLAYING SKYRIM" messages within hours of 11/11/11.

But no, Facebook can [censored] off from Skyrim.

I imagine that if I had sat around one night with a few friends and we had brainstormed, and laughed over, the absolute worst possible ideas for Skyrim, somebody might've mentioned a tie-in with Facebook.

That's about the only context in which I can imagine a "serious" suggestion of the idea......

The German magazine PC Games reports that a connection of Skyrim to Facebook is planned.
(...)

It doesn't bother me, if it's optional (what I believe).

Btw: have you seen the 2 new screens in the article ? Do you know a source where they're to be found on the internet ?

Could they have meant the already present http://www.facebook.com/TheElderScrolls?

I think something like AC: Project Legacy would be cool. Anything else, no thanks.

That is my guess. And no matter what it is I can't imagine it would have any effect on anyone who does not have a FB account or who does not use the function available. What it would do is increase awareness of the game and serve as some advertising for it.

Regardless, I don't see how it would have any effect on anyone who did not want it to.

Seconded.

Bsds: It's a bit off topic, but since there's a Mod around here (and I already asked for the new screenshots out of the magazine-article):
I know that we are not allowed to post magazine-scans and such, but would we be allowed to post a link to a video where somebody shows the screens in the mag ? - I mean it's all only because we (and I) are really longing to get - and discuss - every little info / picture of this great game (I hope I can speak for the majority here ?).

I'm open to the idea. Generally don't see a way this could be done to enhance the game, but I doubt they'd do anything to ruin it. Bring it on.

Thats a great way to make popularity bethesda, force your game onto peoples facebooks, and every time they kill an enemy display it. Or complete a quest, defeat a dragon, purchase or find an item.
TES has always been a game where friends influence eachother to play it more than commercials, now we can automatically annoy everyone on facebook by spamming them with Skyrim spam! Thats a great advertisemant tool!
/sarcasm

Of course that was an overexaggeration, but when they say a connection to facebook, I ask why? Could it possibly provide anything other than annoyance?
