Connection to Facebook?

Post » Tue Dec 15, 2009 11:57 am

The German magazine PC Games reports that a connection of Skyrim to Facebook is planned.

I don't like this idea. I don't like Facebook by the way. But I really don't want any "Like" buttons in Skyrim...

What do you think? What features could this include?

I can really think of only 2 features:
- trophies in your Facebook profile
- status messages in Facebook: "XY is currently playinf TES V: Skyrim in Riverwood."

Of the dozens of verbose ways I could put this, I think I'll choose the most concise: No

I despise Facebook and <I censor this to make sure that no-one could find it offensive>, but I really wouldn't give a crap if there was any kind of connection between it and Skyrim. It's not like they could (or would) make it intrude on the game itself anyway. Unless they implement laptops with internet connections in the game's pubs or something. Internet-café - Skyrim style.

Oh Goddess, no... I can hardly stand the thing already - the less of it obtrusively flying into my annoyed face, the better.

Which, after playing both DA1 and 2, I can safely say I have no idea what that function is. So it's not like if there IS a connection that it'll be noticeable or in-our-faces at all.

"X has just purchased a Mithril Longsword for his character in Skyrim!!! Help him raise more septims today by becoming his friend!"

I wonder what it be along the lines of? Would there be a Facebook mingame such as Assassin's Creed Porject Legacy? I rather enjoyed it as it had a good story and was a full game with alot of effort put into it, and you gained benefits in AC:Brotherhood after achieving milestones in Project Legacy? If it is anything different than that and actually uses Facebook's social features then no. :P
EDIT:

Please no. Bethesda should concentrate on Skyrim and not a Facebook game. And if I buy Skyrim, I like to play Skyrim and not some Facebook game to get benefits in the real game.

I use F.B like mad,but what's the point in connecting the two?

If I do something interesting or amuseing enough in a game,I'll post about it or tell a friend about it personly.

It's also a it annoying whenever a friend with a P.S3 gets a throphie's,It just clutters up my news feed...

I get what you mean and agree but maybe if they were forced to do it from a marketing aspect a different studio would make it? About 5 different studios worked across all aspects of AC: Brotherhood, but I agree they should focus on making the game, so no is my answer then focus on what matters at the end of the day

As long as its just like a status update, and doesn't benefit the player for using it or hurt someone for not, I don't really care.

I don't think they need it for marketing, this game is allready hyped, and will sell like mad.

(Even if a guy around my age dissmissed OB out of hand the other day in a game store, when he said he was looking for a open world game, and I pointed it out.Fool wanted something with, guns, but didn't like F.O.grr)

Sorry,rant over....

It would definitely help with marketing and after Project Legacy more and more studios are considering it, and that dude was one of the many who see games as toys , they're hopeless, one day we will be a respected medium my friend..one day...
That sounded like a revenge speech

Facebook is a great form of social networking, but I fail to see any way that it might be remotely beneficial to a fantasy RPG. I mean really, come on now.
Although if it was some statistical means of viewing your character, it could prove useful... maybe.

I hope it isn't in the form of status updates because whenever I see X got trophies in Y I hate it and I don't do it myself because it's just a bit of the awld willy waving

I think this is just a rumour without any substance to it.
I dont think its true.
Skyrim and facebook have nothing linking the two, it just wouldnt make sense.
Besides, how would it work for console players like me?
