"Connection To Host Failed" issue

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 9:59 am

I have tried to connect to an MP game but everytime I do I get "Connection To Host Failed".

Here are the steps.

My promo code is applied.

Everytime I go back into MP the promo stuff has reset. I go through everything, customize my one character with the promo stuff. Then when I try to connect I get connection to host failed.

I was in one game the day of launch and my character was reverted to level 1. I played some and the character is now level 2.

When I click "Quick Match", I connect to a server that has no one on it. Everytime.

I am then knocked back to level 2 that was my one day leveling. I exit out of MP. Go back in and the there are the promo items again in which I customize and I am level 5 again. I then try to connect to a game 8/16 up and get "Connection To Host Failed".

No matter what I do, this loop just continues and I can not get into a game.

Is it because the servers are not reading the correct level 5 character?

I look at the leaderboards now and there is no way I can catch up. The MP is ruined for me.

I just purchased the game last night and attempted to get in a few multiplayer games today but each time I get the "Connection to host failed" message. I have tried games with all different pings, near full and near empty games, but no matter that it always just gives me that message. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

Next time you are in check the leaderboards. There is one guy already has over like one million experience. I hope he works for EA...LOL!

I pretty much think we are screwed.

I was with Quake Wars: Enemy Territory from day one and I ended up in one week around 850 out of 1000 that showed on the leaderboards. And I was playing non-stop the firsts two weeks for about 7 to 8 hours a day. Since that is strictly a multiplayer game everything worked. Its been 3 days now so how far can the leaderboards be it?

I believe, and it is just a guess but am pretty sure, that the problem lies in the pre-order items. In other words the servers are reading the pre-order people like hackers. You are level 5 and my codes say that is a no-no. Therefore, no connection to host.

The other possibility is the lobby. Once the game has started no one is allowed in.

I have seen the lobby specific bug a while back with Call Of Duty 2 and Battlefield 1942. The game started you can't come in.

It is like the punkbuster bug where people where just booted from the game because the servers where either not updated or had the incorrect codes. Something was not connecting.

That may be the same sort of case here. I lean more towards the Level 5 pre-order thingy. Who know I just wish they would fix the darn thing.

What is going to happen if they reset everyone to level 1. A riot maybe?

Advises:

*Close or make an allow-exception in your anti-virus/Windows Firewall firewall settings for Crysis 2 game.
*Open your router Control Panel and add a port rule for Crysis 2. (Go to: *Example: http://192.168.1.1)
All ports should be 64100 TCP/UDP -> Save Settings.

*I observed that if you choose EA(Official Servers) Ranked/Unranked and connect to these, you will be able to get in the action. I played 5 games without problems, than I exited.
*Try to connect 0 - 300 pinged servers max.

I hope it helped. For me it's working now somehow.

If is working for you too please let me know.

Cheers.

Hey guys :) !
Im experiencing a little-maximum multiplayer problem. xD
I have a laptop with an internet-stick. Its connection rate (both download and upload) is limited after 4gbs.
With that in fact, i had an idea. An idea to use my mobile-phones internet and connect my laptop through WLAN with it. DONT missunderstand me, its SURE fast enough, allmost as fast as the internet-stick! (plays without lag)
But when i log in, click "Multiplayer" and choose a server, it takes about 2 seconds, and then i get "Connection to host failed." This ONLY appears when i use handy-internet. I tried multiple servers, all the same. I
tried to restart Crysis 2, same. :/ Its a Samsung Wave - GTS-8500 btw. The phone uses HSDPA in the region i live, which means high speed.
Ah yes, to mention it: It is NOT a **** pirated version or something, i brought the limited edition. ^^
Its allmost the same as the normal version, except the code for bonuses, and the case.
Im sorry for my bad English, im German ._. have to learn it. :D
Ill try to describe it in German in hope someone can help me in my language. ;D

Hey Leute ^^
"Connection to host failed."

Bye,

dy0r

BTW:
GREAT game, awesome story, stunning graphics, i dont encounter bugs often except the Nano-Catalyst-bug. :/
WELL DONE CRYTEK!

Check PortForward and make sure the needed ports are accessible through your phone. I've noticed that my carrier (yes, in a different country, but still a valid concern) blocks certain ports that some games use.

What do you exactly mean? How to do it?
FW exceptions for Crysis 2 are already added.

I got this reply on another forum I am a member of and since I did it I have been able to actually get into a game to play (I am not sure how long it lasts as I only just tested it - will check back just now after a full game):

You need to enable UPnP and/or open some service ports on your router.

According to a quick Google search, it appears Crysis 2 uses the following ports:

TCP: 80, 443, 64100, 6667, 29900, 2990, 2891
UDP: 27900, 27901, 64100

Check out http://www.portforward.com, and find your router model for instructions.

Now I added all those ports to the incoming and outgoing lists

Edit: It works. No issues whatsoever

Any more people tested this???

I tried to put my PC into DMZ, not working.
No I turned off my SPI-Firewall and it works!

This portforwarding would be a better solution.. ;)

Upnp must be on apparently.

It works perfectly now, it used to not even get into a game.

If anyone gets disconnected in multiplayer game here is the fix.

Start game enter your serial key, quit game, start game re-enter your serial key, join a multiplayer game using the auto join until it puts you in a populated server play. After that you sould be able to join via browser should you wish.

I hope it works for you it has for me! :)

Thanks man. I ′ve done what you said and... YES, it works for me too. I′ve been playing for one hour with no disconnection problems.
By the way, I did not modify router ports, DMZ, UPnP...
