I remember before Oblivion came out they hinted that the next Elder Scrolls would be on this same generation of consoles. And then Fallout 3 happened and I assumed that would no longer be the case. I underestimated just how much technology has reached a plateau, and this generations corresponding longevity. Well...some of these consoles more than others, but we won't get into that here :celebration:
No, technology hasn't reached any kind of plateau, it's becoming more complex just as fast, if not faster, than it was 10 years ago. Even in the 360's limited upgrades the transistor size has halfed between the original and the current, and cutting edge sizes are about half of *that*. Technology is marching on, and the consoles aren't just being left behind, they were left behind a long time ago.
