Console command greatnessappreciation thread.

Is there anything more fun than using console commands on the PC version of Skyrim? Like, seriously? I have been using console commands on and off ever since Skyrim launched and they have saved my sorry hide more times than I can count. For instance: Am I stuck? Tcl. A quest won't advance? Setstage command. A closed gate and I can't for the life of me find a way around it or open it? Tcl.

Oh, and it's also fun randomly spawning some high level enemies and watch as they wreak havoc in cities. For instance, I have a couple of bat files that spawns enemies. I have one that spawns karstaag and adds me to his factions so he won't attack me. I have one bat file with 20 draugr death overlords which also adds me to their faction, and one with 10 nightmaster vampires (and obviously, adds me to their faction).

Sometimes I play completely legit without using a single command but that doesn't last very long seeing that since I've spent almost 1300 hours in Skyrim, levelling does get tedious since max level is just a few commands away. Or one, since I have a bat file for it.

For those of you who don't know: A "bat" file is a simple .txt file containing console commands written out, one per line and if you type the following command in game "bat text" (where text is the name of your txt file), all commands are entered into the game automagically. I have around 20 different bat files and I sometimes add more to automate things further. One of my bat files adds all perks, sets all skills to 100 and sets my level to 100. Quite neat. Oh, and the txt files have to be in the main Skyrim install directory, no subfolder.

Is this cheating? Why, of course. But it is oh so worth it. I would not have put down this much time into Skyrim without them.

Thanks for the thing about bat files...
I'll be using that thing for all ingots and other stuff for smithing. :D

Every one of my characters (Dont last long on PC) has their smithing set to 100 as soon as I name them.

I love spawning Nazeems. He's the best test subject for stuff. :P

Praise the sun console commands!

I find that Tullius is a good test subject as well, after having his essentialness turned off (setessential 1327E 0) seeing as how much I hate the Imperial Legion. Any Thalmor would do as well and preferably Elenwen for what she did to Lord Ulfric - the true High King of Skyrim.

I may not use them on Skyrim (as I don't have it on PC) but I do use them on Morrowind (and soon, Oblivion)

I will admit, I overuse TGM. Hahaha. RA is great for when the NPCs are standing in my way as well.

So I will say, yes the Console is epic!

That bat thing seems pretty useful. I want to try that. XD

Early on, I'd use the console to respec a character, if I felt something was wrong with it's build. Never had to wait for a DLC :P

Nowadays, the main reason to use the console, is when testing. Opening it while still in the main menu and typing coc riverwood, creates a typical nord, outside riverwood. Good for testing something, without messing with an active character. There's also the extremely rare case of getting stuck in the geometry and the even more rare quest that refuses to advance.

Why respec when you can just set everything to 100 with all perks and play anyway you want? ;)

Nazeem, nothing gave more evilgasm than poisining him with my thief/assassin.

I only bought a PC.Version for the mods and console commands, never roleplay on PC. All Hail PC. All hail Console Commands.

I love the all mighty console command.

I use it for setting up screen shots. To spec characters when I first make them. To add items like weapons, armor and other things into my inventory if I need them but don't wish to wait until I find or make one. If I'm testing armor mods, its a great way to spawn the item or the materials to make it.
