Console Commands Help : IV

Trying to use the add item command to add an elven short sword but keep getting the following error

Script ", line 1 'AddItem' requires a reference

I user the command as follows
additem 00035E64 1

Can anyone please help? I appreciate the help in advance.

The missing reference is the player. You need to type player.additem 00035E64 1.
