Had the same problem. This is what worked for me.
SolutionGo into Device Manager -> Keyboards.
Right-click "Microsoft eHome MCIR 109 Keyboard", choose "Update Driver Software".
Choose "Browse my computer for driver software",
Choose the option "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer“
Make sure "show compatible hardware" is checked, then select "HID-compliant device" and click next. Click any remaining "Closed" buttons after Windows has installed the driver.
Also, make sure you're not playing the game with a 360 controller or other gamepad. Console will not work unless you're playing the game via mouse and keyboard. Hope this works for you
