Console matchmaking & latency issues

Post » Thu Feb 28, 2013 9:07 am

Just to let you all know, we're currently investigating changes to the matchmaking algorithm on both consoles which should improve issues relating to lag and players from different regions being matched together.

I'll post again when I have more details.

Host selection is a major thing too. A Host with the proper required bandwidth to feed 12 players trumps a Host that lacks the bandwidth required yet is in region....

Also I fear with the limited amount of a player pool on Consoles even having a region parameter within the algorithm will just reduce potential of full lobbies and increase wait times...

A question, wouldn't you have to roll out these parameters to the live game just to see how it works and the results? You can't exactly do this in-house...?

Why was this not addressed after the Beta?

Thats why we had a beta, you were told about these issues while the beta was in progress.

Also what is the ETA for this fix?

I'm not sure how much of this can be tweaked, but Ghost Recon Future Soldier on consoles had similar issues with lag and disconnects - especially on transatlantic connections - until they eventually "reduced the maximum required bandwidth" of MP connections to compensate for that.

Everything went quicker, faster load-times and above all pretty much no more lag - sure, some Menu effects went away, some small animations in the loadout-screen, but it improved the connections immensely.

If something like that were possible with Crysis 3, I think a lot of people would appreciate that.

Thank you for your efforts.
