Console Mod Speculation

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 9:42 pm

Hey yall, how safe and sound do you think the console mods will be? How crazy do you think we will be able to go? Could there be any way a mod could corrupt, hack, or steal our information? I am strictly ps4 for now (computer funds non obtainable) so im just trying to get someone's two cents about the topic. Thanks :)

Well, we already know some restrictions are in place. No other game resources can be used, no nvde mods.. things like that. That implies that they will be checking mods out before they are uploaded. As for hacking/corrupting or stealing information. I highly doubt that's anything console users will have to worry about. Todd has stated that he wants people to be able to "break their games" using mods.. but we have to take that with a grain of salt as he's known for exaggerating. There's what Todd wants and thinks is feasible and then there's what Sony or Microsoft want and think is feasible. I don't think lines in the sand have actually been drawn out yet.. and that's what everyone in the gaming industry will be watching. If this is successful we'll surely see other game companies quickly following suit.

I hope someone will make a mod like the Oldblivion mod.

A mod that downscales the graphics to get the framerate up to 60fps on console. I would be more than happy with a game that barely looked any better than fallout 3 if it ment that it would run at 60fps.

Some mods I think will just never make it to console with regards to unofficial patches and I'm thinking the upper end of texture overhauls like NMC's or Ojobueno (maybe the lower end stuff). Definitely not ENB's. Other then that stuff I think consoles will be fine for weapon reskins etc.

Don't think that's going to happen, Especially Xbox, not sure what resolution Xbox One is running FO4 at though I have a feeling it's locked at 1080/30 fps.

Well its natural to assume that there'd be some sort of limitation in place when it comes to mods on consoles. I can't really see anything like graphics or performing enhancement mods. The only mods I can really see working on consoles are item mods, armor mods, weapon mods and quest mods.

Anything that requires a script extender or anything mega complex probably won't work on consoles.

I'm assuming consoles will probably get house mods, armor / weapon mods, some cheat mods, quest mods. Nothing fancy like ENBS or mods that feature special scripting. They may even wanna limit the mods to a certain size only.

Even then they will probably be heavily curated by a team or something.

And you'll probably need PS+ or XBox Live Gold to be able to use them.

I think basically it's a situation of "At least they get something" lol...So just be happy attitude.

But like I said before some modders aren't going to care if for some reason a mod doesn't work on console but works fine on PC. Who wants to worry about 3 platforms even they're all basically PCs with different OS's.
