On Console Please Bethesda..

Post » Fri May 13, 2011 9:10 pm

I played all games from Arena to Oblivion on PC, I still have gaming PC's about and could build a monster to play Skyrim at it's best, BUT!

I tend to play more often on the PS3 these days so please could we not have any game killing bugs like the infamous slowdown in Oblivion that a hex edit solved on the PC.

I am really looking foreward to this game.

Looking at past bugs in beth games, I think you're wrong.

I'm pretty sure that they don't put the bugs in intentionally. I mean, I could be wrong, but...

This. Morrowind, Fallout 3 and Oblivion didn't really have anything like a game-breaking bug in them for me. New Vegas was far worse, but I doubt Bethesda had any responsibility for that.
EDIT: Plus, with the new engine, the bugs that came as a result of an outdated and unstable engine will all be almost gone.

What most PS3 users seem to be unaware of is that Oblivion was not scheduled to be on PS3 at all, it was released a year after it came out on 360 and PC. Because of this, it was easily the worst platform to get Oblivion on. Skyrim has been planned for a PS3 release just as long as 360 and PC, so I don't think PS3 users have anything at all to worry about.

Bethesda QAed the game.

Actually, the PS3 version of Oblivion was better than the Xbox one. Bethesda used that year to optomize it, so it had slightly better graphics and loading times.

Beth will do their best, they had a good amount of time to work on the game and test it, as well as it being on a new engine, don't expect it to have the same bugs.

And the new engine will bring new bugs...I'm not worried about any version though. They'll all be great.

Yes, I'd much rather have slightly better graphics and loading times of the PS3 than the smooth running of the 360.

Oh I'm sure the developpers want to incorporate bugs in their games...

I think Skyrim will run just fine. The game is optimized this time, and they had quite a good knowledge of the consoles when they started making the game, as opposite to Oblivion where they had to rush some adaptations... which resusted in loadings everywhere.

Uh.. the PS3 version ran perfectly smoothly with the obvious exception of large fights, which might have something to do with the faster loading times previously mentioned.

Funny, I remember hearing quite a lot of complaining about issues with the PS3 version of Oblivion when it came out, and pretty sure there was a reference to it in one of the podcasts. Just because you didn't have any issues doesn't mean that the many others didn't suffer any.

Many players had problems with HALO: Reach. I had none, should I go around saying it performed perfectly and there were no issues with the game?

A bug free game is like a novel without plot holes. It just doesnt exist, and will never exist, as long as human beings, and not gods, make them.

At the very least they should fix their bugs. Most OB bugs still havent been patched. Though i think it has more to due with MS being dike bags than Bethesda being lazy.

looking at the fact that these games have always been having a few bugs that are almost never game breaking (i have had only a few problems with Oblivion on the 360, the most notably is sometimes the summon shader demora use on scamps doesn't load and i get a black cylinder on the summon spot), and the ones that ARE gamebreaking are fixed asap with a patch (although this tactic is used a bit more liberally than I'd like), i can surely say it is YOU that is wrong.

i thought Beth hates SONY? Morrowind was never on PS2, Oblivion on PS3 delayed an entire year and still missing DLCs, Fallout3's Xbox version has better graphic and details.

I honestly doubt that, besides they went through the trouble of even porting it to PS3 in the first place.
Bethesda loves the PS3 community and the PS3 community loves Bethesda. :tes:

EDIT: When I joined the forums, the first thing I did was have a long thread asking why DLCs did not go to the PS3. It's because since the PS3 version was ported, it wasn't specifically made, so when they tried to port the housing DLCs, they came across difficulties. But still be happy we have Shivering Isles :)

Yes, the PS3 was not available to them when they were making it so they had to do a seperate port later. I think OB was actually one of the launch titles for PS3. And as we know it ran jsut a little better than 360 anyway.
