Console Vs. PC?

Post » Tue Oct 19, 2010 9:29 pm

Should I save up money for a new PC or buy Skyrim on the 360?

The reason I ask is:

I usually use my 360 for gaming, because my computer is crappy. Will it be worth it to save for a new computer to game on rather than my xbox? Or should I just buy skyrim for the 360, and buy a PC later?

EDIT: I have realized my mistake in making this thread. Prepared for war.

EDIT 2:

Well, I think this is my plan:

Im gunna buy Skyrim for the 360, but I am gunna get the computer at Christmas time because then I will actually have the money to still afford stuff afterwards. And then once I get bored of Vanilla Skyrim, I can buy the PC version and start getting mods.

Sounds like a good idea?

EDIT: Yes, I usually do all of my gaming on the 360.

BUT, I want to get into PC gaming, but I want to do that around Christmas time when I can afford more games.

PC if you want to spend less money on the game.

Console if you want to plug and play!

I would not spend money on a computer unless you actually plan on using it, a lot.

Is it worth spending so much money on a gaming PC for just one game? Stick to the 360, unless their are other games you wish to play on the PC... Obvious answer is obvious :toughninja:

You could build a fairly decent gaming PC for around $650 or so that would run the game around max. (assuming you have a monitor already) I would say its worth it. All TES games should be played on a PC at some time or another.

Elder Scrolls games are approximately 10,000 times better on a PC.

I wouldn't say it was worth it for one game and before a war starts guys remember unity is what we need, we are all tes lovers here remember, no matter what platfrom we play upon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lc3e_xN_JNc&feature=youtube_gdata_player

I have a 360 and played Oblivion on it, however, I really want to get Skyrim on the PC. It's nothing against the 360, but like stated before, mods just add so much more to the game, long after you beat it. If they get it working on the 360, then choose your own preference but if not, and you want something to last you a long long time, then the PC is just overall better.

It depends on how much SR matters to you. For example I don't play many other games so SR is very important to me, therefor I am will to send a lot of money on it. I spend $350 bucks just to play OB(game and graphics card) I never played another game for any significant amount of type with that card, it basically was just for OB. So if your a so called "hardcoe" fan then pc is the way to go. On the other hand if SR is just one of many games your looking forward to, then just buy for whatever you already have. Only if you plan on spending hundreds of hours with the game will it makes sense to get the pc version for mods.

If you will use the PC for more than just Skyrim, go for the PC. Mods are simply marvelous.

Are you going to use said gaming rig to play more than just Skyrim? If not, I'd go with console, mainly since you already have it.

PCs take a bit more dedication than consoles, because although they can be upgraded, and sometimes cheaply, keeping up with the newest games, which are only ever more demanding on technology, makes upgrading a necessity. With consoles, anything you can play on it, you can just play. Until the next gen kicks in, which is usually several years.

The only downside to console, when it comes to Skyrim, is lack of mods. For me, that's unacceptable, but it's up to you to weigh their importance against the cost.

I'd stick to the computer.
I think sportsgames are better on console but TES or any other Egoshooter/RPG is much better on PC.
Don't forget the Mods even 'tho they said you can use mods on console im not sure for things like OBSE(SRSE??).
As far as we dont know much about the ability of importing mods to XBOX/PS3 I'd wait and when you know decide if mods are worth the money actually.
For me it is without doubts.

I have some opinions on this

I bought Oblivion on PC first, then PS3. Yeah, its fun playing with the mods on the PC, but honestly, I had to lower the graphics quality, and change all my settings, and put my files in a particular place etc... I dont have a gaming PC though.

If you can AFFORD a new high end PC, then get it on PC. Obviously the graphics will be considerably better than console. But people who buy Skyrim on PC will obviously have different graphics and performance, so their gameplay experience will be different. On console, everyones graphics and experience with the game is pretty much the same.

Honestly, ive always played games on consoles, because im not really a PC expert, but I like the console community anyway.

If I were you, id get it on console first. And if you really like it, get it on PC and all that so you can play more with mods (

Why is it 10,000 times better?
It's the same game, you may be able to have better graphics on the PC and mod, but if you are like me and want to play the game as it is... it really doesn't matter on wich console you play it on.

PC, but only if you plan to do most of your gaming on it.

Yeah, it's twice as much as a console to get it started, but the maintence for it (assuming you only upgrade when neccessary, rather than when the Next Gen rolls on out) is less than that of consoles- $150-200 for new parts once your current one becomes obsolete, compared to the $200+ for a brand new console, plus games for said console since backwards compatability isn't guarnteed.

Yes, it can get quite expensive for max settings (such as the $350 for a new Graphics Card) but a $75 Graphics Card, currently, will play most games at medium to high graphics with minimal lag/stutter issues. I myself run a GeForce 9500 GT; and all of my (current) games are on the higher end of the spectrum with minimal lagging.

But, again, only get the PC if you plan to do most of your gaming on it.

Console for big pretty tv, 7.1 surround sound, gamepad, and comfy couch. The UI will probably be consolefied so i'd rather deal with it for hundreds of hours on the console.
