Pc or consoles

Post » Wed Feb 09, 2011 8:45 pm

Should I be getting brink for pc or console(xbox). Ive always felt that the pc community has always had a better understanding of "teamwork" than consoles, but ultimatly I want to play on a platform that actually has people playing. So what platform do you guys think will be more populated?

You make it sound like no one plays FPSes on the PC.

I'd like to say the PC would have more players, since BRINK appeals to gamers who are sick of mainstream FPSes influenced by COD (And COD holds a stronger influence on console players, particularly xbox)

The COD fan-boys stick to COD, and the ones who are sick of COD move on to BRINK. PC gamers as a whole aren't held as tight by the grips of COD and the franchises it's spawned, so more PC gamers would convert.

But that's just my opinion.

EDIT: SizeMcWave's got a point. Hell, just the title is asking for war. PsychoticHamster, just play whatever console your friends are playing BRINK on, so you get that friendship-teamwork experience that BRINK offers. If you don't know any friends playing BRINK, just pick the console you like best.

This has the makings of a pc console war on the thread, if it gets to flamey it will probably get closed, Just a heads up.

Sorry to burst your bubble but this thread will probably get shut down. since it may be a repeat of a previously asked question. Maybe try doing a search and see what results you get. I myself am not sure what the populace is doing but I will be playing on PC. Happy hunting :)

Thanks for the insight, actually suprised, this game seemed more towards the type of fps's that pc gamers go for, but if they already have a game they like they arent going to switch.Theres nothing I hate more than getting a good game but no one plays it.

I don't think any platform is going to have a shortage of players. It really comes down to your preference, or what your friends are going to play on. If neither of those are a deciding factor and you're truly neutral, I'd recommend PC. Splash Damage has a good track record there.

Side note: I've played most shooters online on PC, and I can guarantee players in pubs can be as mind-bogglinly stupid on PC as anywhere else. Stupidity knows no platform.

Oh thats not m,y intention at all, if thats what you thought it was.I dont want to know which platform is "better" because I know where that topic goes, I just wanted peoples opinion of which one would be more populated.

Question 1
Do you have a good eye for top-end graphics?
Is your PC a high-end machine?

If yes to the second question, lean towards the PC. Console games don't get as high-quality graphics, and also don't have the option of turning down the graphics settings to improve performance (and often the developers push the system just a TINY bit further than I'd like them to).

Question 2
Are you already planning to pay for XBox Live Gold membership?

If not, keep in mind that this is NECESSARY if you want to play online. So if you're not prepared to pay your subscription costs, I'd go with the PC version.

Question 3
Have you played FPS games with the XBox 360 controller?
Have you played them with mouse and keyboard?
Which feels more comfortable to you?

Pick that one.

Bear in mind, question 3 trumps the others, but 2 is also fairly important. Question 1 matters only if the others aren't quite deciding the matter for you, and may just tip the balance towards one side or the other.

I would hope that this PC could run Brink because I got it custome made about 3 months ago lol.But I am definatly more comfortable with a 360 controller which is really the big factor for me. Ive subscribed for xbox live in halo 2 lol.

Personally I will be running my graphics at medium or lowest to maximize my frame rate.

My computer can run crysis maxed out smoothly, but I prefer not getting distracted my in game graphics

Like others have said, get which ever you prefer. I personally prefer playing fps with a pad then with mouse and keyboard so I'm getting it on the 360.

I'm not meaning just "Can it run brink?" with that question.

I'm meaning "Can it run brink at least as well as the XBox could, without lagging behind graphically?"

From the sound of it, the PC should be capable of getting the "yes" answer there anyway.

But if you're more comfortable with the 360, go with it.

Amazing how no matter what thread you start - COD ends up there.

As comparably - I think people are judging it wrongly.

Consoles - Are easier , Better access (Simple to switch on - play) - No worries of spec performance, Nice friend setup + headset mic.....Its comfortable - No Key lay outs (Which is annoying for alot of people).

PC - Prettier graphics, Better performance (With the right setup) - Some people prefer mouse of jotstick, Easier to do more than "1" things - Browsing, Chatting, etc....And not everyone can afford a PC to run games at good performances.

Its all about "your" preferential needs.

Is black better than white? 50 say yes - 50 say no, None of them are wrong or right.

So lets not get into a war over "which is better" cause there is no right or wrong answer.

Its only about "What you prefer"....And enjoy the game :)

I grew up playing games on pc and console and enjoyed playing both of them but liked pc for obvious reasons such as d/ling the game for free back in the day and the tons of free addons/mods that came out. For me tho it always just came down to which one had more of my friends playing it tbh.

PC players have a longer history of FPS online, Brink will appeal to lots of PC players who can't get the kind of games they like anymore, online PC games have a long shelf life, they aren't in need of game du jour

you can always wait to see what the platform sales are like before you decide.

but for technical reasons PC/ steam looks like the better option and you will probably get better loading times from hard drive/SSD

This is what I'll probably do, because its not a matter of preformance for me, just population. I dont want every 10 year old that thinks COD is the best there is to come on and start svcking the fun away, but I want a crowd large enough so that months after its release there are still a good amount of people playing.
