I don't even have to read the whole of this thread to know how it's going to turn out. I'd bet a lot that it's simply a shambles of ignorant comments on both sides..
there are plenty PC only games. Can consoles please have something they can be proud about?
Ridiculous comment. Consoles and PC could both be 'proud' of the game if it were optimised properly for each platform.
I saw a pc gamer post something about not wanting to pay 60 bucks for Skyrim, because of the principle, when apparently hes earning £100,000
also most people I know who play games on PC steal them
this is probably why games are getting made for consoles more, they actually earn money from it, bethesda are a BUSINESS
So ignorant.. PC has more players than either Xbox or PS3, but not more than both combined. There are as many active steam accounts as there are XBL accounts; the only difference being that XBL covers all online xbox players, whereas there are many PC players outside steam. Also, the second hand market in console gaming (which doesn't exist on PC) loses developers FAR more money than piracy; simply because it's legal, and so more people do it. Also, developers make more money per game from PC players, as many buy via digital distribution.
Clearly therefore, the decision wasn't made purely from the perspective of how much money could be made; it was made from the perspective of how little money they could spend and how little effort they could make, and still net the most players.
Still, this game is good on all platforms; and as always, is better on PC. It becomes more likely however that as technology moves forwards, many good developers will move towards a PC focus, because many developers want to push their talents and create something technically great, which can't be done on consoles, and hasn't been possible in years. I don't hate consoles, but the industry itself is genuinely holding gaming back. Developers want to net as many players as possible across all 3 platforms, but aren't willing to give the PC gamers more because of the fact console players will not feel they've been treated fairly. The next generation of consoles probably won't emerge until at least 2013, so we'll see what happens I guess.
