Consolitis

Did you miss the post where Bethesda said that creating games for PC is a headache and consoles are so much easier to do?

http://www.next-gen.biz/news/bethesda-admits-pc-development-headache

Saw that a long time ago, and while it's true, they're just stating the obvious there, most developers do just fine developing for PC along consoles, or PC alone, also, making a good PC version of the game, Bethesda started as a PC developer, and as ID now look the other way, that's sad...really.

I'm not trying to be an [censored] here but...

PC gaming is dying..the average gamer is a console game simply because it's cheaper to play games on a console. The way the economy is it makes sense...less people have the money to afford a good gaming rig. Bethesda is going to go where the money is at. Since more people own consoles thats where they are headed.

They tried that once (Oblivion,) and because of it the consoles were shafted. Hm.

The textures can be really bad and pop in alot (u guys can have full textures all the time)

Nope. Even on ultra there's tons of pop-in textures. You are not alone my friend! :brokencomputer:

Though you're right, you definitely miss out with the lack of mods on your end.

I love all the pc elitism when they're pissed that game companies don't care about them. You paid how much for a rig that might run the game at better graphics when it's not bugging out.

400 euros, just a bit more than your console, ofcourse depending if X360 or PS3. But I'm elitist because I would like my game to perform correctly on my rig? You console gamers don't complain anymore, basically because your consoles can't handle higher graphics/AI/technology in general, so it's sometimes a miracle you can even run games that look REALLY GOOD for the PS3/360, but if the consoles were all new and shiny, and could handle alot better graphics and tech, I'm sure you would complain for devs not doing it.

Wow guys.

Feel proud do you? Look back at this thread with neutral eyes. Its disgusting. Almost every post. (almost)

Does it matter if you play on PC or Console? Each platform caters to different types of game, works with different UI's and has different strengths in terms of control. But each platform is only that, a platform. Our preference of platform is down to the individual.

The OP really made it sound like PC people are better than others. Well as a PC user i can categorically say we are NOT better than console users.

I think its pretty obvious that the game was designed for consoles only which is a shame. Were the situation reversed i can be pretty sure those on consoles would complain about the UI designed for mouse and keyboard. So i think a little tolerance of UI complaints is in order.

Havign said that, the console is likely a majority (Dont quote percentages, you have no idea what the market breakdown is, so it just makes you sound daft) and Bethesda are a company so although it may not be fair, they have an element of justification in their crappy PC UI.

Dont like it? Dont buy the next game. I might not for reasons i have already mentioned. Thats our perogative. And constructive criticism is yours. But can we PLEASE stop arguing about PC "Elitism" and Console "Kiddies". Neither is true. The majority of PC gamers are exactly the same as the majority of console gamers. We just have a different preference of platform.

I don't even have to read the whole of this thread to know how it's going to turn out. I'd bet a lot that it's simply a shambles of ignorant comments on both sides..

there are plenty PC only games. Can consoles please have something they can be proud about?

Ridiculous comment. Consoles and PC could both be 'proud' of the game if it were optimised properly for each platform.

I saw a pc gamer post something about not wanting to pay 60 bucks for Skyrim, because of the principle, when apparently hes earning £100,000
also most people I know who play games on PC steal them

this is probably why games are getting made for consoles more, they actually earn money from it, bethesda are a BUSINESS

So ignorant.. PC has more players than either Xbox or PS3, but not more than both combined. There are as many active steam accounts as there are XBL accounts; the only difference being that XBL covers all online xbox players, whereas there are many PC players outside steam. Also, the second hand market in console gaming (which doesn't exist on PC) loses developers FAR more money than piracy; simply because it's legal, and so more people do it. Also, developers make more money per game from PC players, as many buy via digital distribution.

Clearly therefore, the decision wasn't made purely from the perspective of how much money could be made; it was made from the perspective of how little money they could spend and how little effort they could make, and still net the most players.

Still, this game is good on all platforms; and as always, is better on PC. It becomes more likely however that as technology moves forwards, many good developers will move towards a PC focus, because many developers want to push their talents and create something technically great, which can't be done on consoles, and hasn't been possible in years. I don't hate consoles, but the industry itself is genuinely holding gaming back. Developers want to net as many players as possible across all 3 platforms, but aren't willing to give the PC gamers more because of the fact console players will not feel they've been treated fairly. The next generation of consoles probably won't emerge until at least 2013, so we'll see what happens I guess.

There's really no reason for this thread to begin with. Soon we'll have loads of mods rolling out to fix every little nitpicky complain we PC user could have.

But we'll still complain :whistling:

A bunny dies EVERY TIME someone predicts out of nowhere the death of PC gaming, you know why? Because you got that information from your beliefs, and not facts. I won't even link you to anything, believe whatever you want, but don't talk about something you don't know...PC Gaming is far from dying, on the contrary, if it was dying somewhere in the past, it no longer is, as PC Gaming hardware is a massive market right now, and will continue to be at least for the rest of this gen, and if consoles are as expensive they are predicted to be, the PC gaming will rise even more, so don't come here with made out predictions, at least link us to where the PCs are selling like garbage, and PC developers are dying from starvation, else, you're proven wrong by not proving anything yourself.

Consoles are out of date!

I own a ps3 and a xbox 360, I hardly use them any more except as a media client hooked up to my server.
I feel they are outdated on gfx and what i hate most with them is that they are "locked". You cant use mods, thus you cant customize a game to your liking.

I really wanted to buy Skyrim for my console. I thought it would play alot better on my xbox then as ported to pc. At first I wanted it for my PS3 as in my opinion the PS3 got better gfx system than the xbox, but i droped the ps3 after reading about ps3's performance issues for Skyrim.

Now in a perfect world where studios release a perfect game with no bugs.. i would have bought this game for xbox 360, but the reality is that a bug free game is just utopia and you cant do nothing about bugs on a closed console system.

The PC however can deal with bugs. If not a bug update from the studio, then the community will find ways to mod out the game.

Look at skyrim as it is now with all kinds of enhancement mods. The game is not perfect, but with the mods, its a lot better than release.
On a console you are still stuck with the original release.

It is really sad that consoles are hampered this way. So i rather play a "console game" ported to pc, than playing it on its native console... how sad is that!
