Constant BurningCrackling Sound Bug

Post » Sat May 25, 2013 4:09 am

I've been having this issue where I constantly hear a burning/crackling/wind sound. It seems to be louder in first person than in third person. I have no idea what is causing it, but it is extremely annoying and will not go away. I've tried searching online to see if other people have experienced this, and I have found some posts that seem to be referring to the same issue. Most of the resolutions seem to be in the form of mods. I am on the 360, so mods are not an option. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, has anyone figured out a fix for 360? It is a major distraction from my gaming experience. I really wish Bethesda could patch this bug.

It's a lightning spell that's glitched. At least I think that's what you're talking about.
Do you use the spell, or do you have Serana or any other lightning user as your follower?

I'm not sure what the fixes are for consoles, but it's related to the 'arrow stuck in character' bug that was really big around release.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a permanent fix for it might just be some temporary band-aid solutions, I remember when I had it on PC I could clear it by opening the console and typing in 'sixchange' twice, but then it would always come back once I reloaded the game. Now I have the USKP and that stops it from occurring.

Found a solution for consoles onhttp://www.neoseeker.com/forums/52479/t1699751-skyrim-audio-problem-wind-fire-noise-wont-stop/.

Apparently you can turn into a werewolf (I'd assume vampire lord would work as well) and that should clear it up at least for a little while.

I do not typically use a lightning spell - I typically use fire spells. I have had Serana as a follower in the past, but I do not have her following currently and I still get the sound. On one forum I read that it might have something to do with the sword Chillrend. I used that sword for a while, but I do not use it now, yet still getting the sound.

A simple reload should solve the problem. A console reset at worst.

When it happened to me I got the sound from Elemental Fury stuck in a loop on one of my characters, never had the sword called Chillrend.

Yeah, I saw that werewolf fix as well. I've tried it, and it will temporarily fix the issue, but then when I reload or fast travel, the sound is back. So reloading or restarting the console does not solve it. It would be nice to have a permanent fix if possible.

I've never had to deal with this problem, I don't know what to say. If restarting the console still doesn't fix it...

Have you tried clearing your system cache? That might be the problem.

If you have a follower with a lightning staff, this is another source of pain.
