I'm getting a near constant crash out of Fallout New Vegas, completely fresh install with verfication of files via steam showing no issues.

Each time I start a new game the following error occurs:

I know my machine meets the specifications to run this but I'll list the system specs anyway

Processor: AMD Phenom II 2.60GHZ
Ram: 8GB
System OS: Vista 64 bit
Graphics card: Nvidia GTX 550TI
Hard Drives: 80gig primary, 1 terabyte slave - Games all installed on slave drive.

I've tried everything, lowered graphics, vsync off etc etc, any idea's folks?

This game might be a lot more fun if I could, you know, actually play it.

Tried GStaff's helpful hint and files are fine. Reinstalled, and files are fine. Go to play, and after a revolution or two of the roulette wheel, bam! CTD and a similar APPCRASH as listed above.

So much for holiday presents ... I guess employees got a nice gift.

ETA: Got it running ... although everyone said it's not necessary with the latest patch, loading some unofficial d3d9.dll patch got my game to work.

i just bought this game yesterday, it is doing the same thing im kinda upset about it and just want to play what do i need to do to fix it. plus my computer has a habit a using and intel chip instead of the actual gpu i have.
