Constantly asking fro Video settings on start up

Hi folks,

Having had many issues with this game, I thought they'd all been solved when I installed a new graphics card and a new SSD. Managed to play New Vegas for the first time, having had it in my Steam collection (un)playable for some time.

OK, so played game, enjoy for a couple of hours. Went back to it a day or two later and a problem has occurred.

Every time i start it from Steam, or desktop short cut, it puts up the box "detecting Video Hardware" I click Ok. It says Video setting have been set for High Quality, I click ok again. Then nothing. Click on the play button on the option screen and it does the same routine again with the detecting Video setting and setting for High. It will go round in circles and I never get to start the game.

Tried verify game content, tried re-installing the game. Tried turning off UAC. All to no avail, can anyone please help me!!!

My game is installed in the Steam/Steamapps directory which is located in my H drive, not in my C drive as this is a SSD, so I don't want to fill it with Steam as this file is rather large.

I am wondering where the game files have been stored to, as I cannot see the save games and suchlike anywhere?

Where does the game look for the video setting file to tell it they've been set? Just any idea maybe.

All help appreciated.

You have a conflict possibly caused by accepting the default installed location. The Program Files area is too closely controlled by the newer Windows versions for it to be an acceptable place for games. You need your Steam account and the game elsewhere. You also need Administrator Privileges. Right now, it's unable to write to whatever INI file is involved.
