Construction Set is loading mods that don't exist

Post » Thu Jan 21, 2010 5:49 am

Hey guys, I don't really know how to describe this. I've been working on a mod for a little while now, and I can save and load it in the constucrion set with no problems, but I've checked my Data folder, and the .esp that I've been using doesn't seem to exist in the Data folder, although the Construction Set and Oblivion itself can load it with no problem. Additionally, I just tried making a new mod, and I saved it, and it never showed up in the Data folder, but it does show up in the load order.

Now, I'd like to share this mod eventually, so obviously this could be a problem. Does anybody know what's causing this, and how I can fix it?

Damn Windows 7. :brokencomputer:

Although it looks like Windows 7 must do things slightly differently, because I don't have "C:\Users\ \AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion".

UPDATE: To make matters even worse, the Construction Set has now realised that this "C:\Users\ \AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion" doesn't exist, and has decided that since it's not in the Data folder, it's not going to bother loading my mod anymore. :)

Awesome.

Your mod is obviously somewhere on your system. Just do a search for your ESP file and it will pop up.

Awesome.

Try turning the UAC off and searching for it then. Once you find it, move it to another location, re-install Oblivion to a directory outside of "Program Files", re-install the CS, turn the UAC back on and continue working on you're mod.

Rant: Why the *&^%^ does Microsnot Microsoft :brokencomputer: make things more and more difficult with each new Windows release? Oh, if only more games could be played on Apple computers. And if anyone thinks Microsnot Microsoft :brokencomputer: will ever improve, just take a look at this: http://images.cheezburger.com/completestore/2010/4/14/129157560669596150.gif
