Constructive Critiques

Hi I want to post mine here but you are welcome to post yours there as well no flames please...

My constructive criticism :

1
Story

I personally think that the story was a bit too simple and clichet , the usual tough guy guided by the smart brain around to do this and that , I Think that it would have been much better to keep the original storyline of Crysis one , and unfold a story throught mistery ... there is no mistery in Crysis 2 , the plot is quite confused on the Virus , aliens and internal fights in the city , there seems to be no introduction and you imediately find out aliens and fights.... nothing to discover only plain missions to do that look all the same if was not for the different levels .... put your arm in that stuff.... recover that stuff , kill those enemies etc....

Honestly ? Boring , a lot of levels yes and I liked that but all felt the same ,after a while I was really bored to kill alwasy the same aliens always the same stuff to do , nothing to discover , nothing to explore , therew is no mistery and no sense of awe....

Now Crysis one instead had that very solid story background , first you arrive to an island , then you have to disvoer things by yourself , you are not told constantly what to do with annoying voices in head all time , I wished I could feel more lonely in the city , than nstead having this radio constantly on ...what really lacks is a original "feeling"... Even the decision to change the aliens from original "alien" to a humanoid haloish form is a bad choice , you may say ok but this way the gameplay is enhanced , well it is wrong because the gameplay becomes just a shooting stuff to new halo covenants , they lack any originality , any special things , there is no confrontation between a human and an alien its just afight among who has the best suit ... In my personal opinion the aliens in crysis 1 where way better and more characterized , thse new aliens look too much copied from HAlo and the starwars tripod look just off ...
The story is really plain and unconsistant , it unfolds boringly mostly and is not really attractive ....

In my opinion a better story line woul dhave developed after the Lingshan events in the south east of the pacific with the protagonist eventually moving from place to place striving to find out what's happening , reintroducing the sense of disvover , awe and mistery around aliens and at the same time eventually face other superpowers or cities , a best setting could have been hong kong , Kuala lumpur or Tokyo , best enemies woudl have been koreans or chinese eventually as humans and the same aliens of crysis 1 with eventually improved or new things.... then also the lack of the freezing terraforming seems off with the original series that also added a lot to the drama of the story .... now its gone ...

2
Graphics

On Graphic choices I can understand the undertoning of the game was due to consolle port but it was a double hit because if you made this the best graphic game on PC you coul dhave used the PC pictures and videos to publicize just as much as DICE is doing with their Battlefield 3 ....

Removing all the latest cryengine features from the PC version as well just reduced the showcase effect of the game , so it just looks like one of the many consolle game out there and nothing special , but Crysis 1 was the best and had more features than crysis 2 and was a good showcase for the engine , Cryengine 3 is not well showcased throught this game and the potential is not seen... By undertoning the PC removing features from POM to wave animations , to deformations procedural destructions etc etc you really lost the opportunity to show what's able the cryengine and gather even more people around the game and mostly around the engine ...

3
Gameplay

The gameplay also has been changed and moved to a simple shoothemall kind of game , loosing the gameplay features of Crysis one that involved huge areas that enabled you to use at your own interest , in Crysis one you could pick multiple ways to reach your goal , in Cryssis 2 it feels you need to make predetermined paths , eventually a couple of alternative solutions are offered , but still preplanned and there is not the feel that you can go anywhere and jump on everywhere as instead was in C1...

The changing of the nanosuit powers , on a certain side seems more powerfull and can still be accepted but the lack of superpower mode and spuer speed its felt and I think is something that displeased most making them feel not super but normal , when you run faster for example feels just lie a normal sprint and nothing supernanotechnological....

The Aliens changed to Halo like covenants is also a bad move as they lost all the features of the orginal C1 .... flying , tentacules, spider super tanks all those elements introduced a lot of gameplay possibilities , you coul dhave introduced spider drones, flying drones , biomechanical suits eventually for the "squids" but those shoudl be rarer and randmly used as in the orginal crysis they looked cool couse where much weacker than a human in reality and is an original idea .... now they just look like crazy jumpers , with partially scripted solutions and the AI lacks also on determining a smart strategy , there is no point in jumping here and there when it has actually no real purpouse iof not to show some circus like abilities ...

The MP is the weack part of the whole game , what would have kept players addicted to it and also would have gathered the new Xbox community around the game failed considerably because was decided to imitate also here games like COD or halo that have nothing in common with the original Crysis game ... the large maps , the vehicles and powerstruggle style of play where indeed some innovative gameplay that would really have conquered people in Xbox too , but it waas not the cae unfortunately and was introduced all kind of Cod like stuff like airstrikes and other unrealistic things ... Bettwe would have been at this point to copy Bf3 ...

4
Level design

Level design is great , a lot of work has been done into that and some levels are really a masterpiece and must have been very hard to design and make work , tough they lack the dimensions of the first and they give too much the feeling of not beeing in a sandbox but ina small fish tank where either you go this way or you stop playing ...

5
Editor

I am confident that this will be released soon but the lack of it made a lot of people not buythe game , me included , I just got for xbox , The modding community also on pc ill keep the game alive for years , just look at the crymod community , till the next Crysis 3 , plus you always get your game improved and you gather new ideas even....So I hope a editor will be released soon so I ll change my xbox copy with the PC version ....

:) Hope no offense was taken mine is just an attempt to express my disappointment for the game , ( that anyway is still a good game ) but I love the Crysis games and cryengine and I know that it could have been done much better , so is only inthe light of improvement and giving a constructive critique that I am posting this...

I have no clue why people think single player is good. Its DECENT at best. Its your typical cookie-cutter storyline. Its unfortunate. Not to mention you are held by the hand every minute of the game. Unfortunate.

You are right.
I can also say that Crysis got is own soul a game-way which make it very special game, diferent of other games whith unique aliens and freezer weapons. Now i finished Crysis 2. In my opinion is almos a Crysis 0.5, no the second part of the enormous Crysis. You make a step back. I think if you named it "Nanowars", "Manahatan invasion" or whatever diferent ( a spin off?) it could be a good game but no the secuel of Crysis. I got the impression of being played a Halo+Cod game. And the word Crytek-made "choreograqed-sandbox" is a sinonimous of "just another lineal FPS of the market".
All the year 2010 telling Crysis 2 will be a new great PC game, all lie, is just a console port.
I could write for hours. Hope you make a great patch and add better textures and dx11 support.
You failed to me Crytek, realy i feel very sad.
Hope this help tou you.

Well the damage is the minimum I played at supersoldier and honestly I didn't understand what's the difference between normal and supersoldier? may be they shoot you more?
