Constructive ideas

Post » Sat Apr 30, 2011 12:44 pm

So the game has been great so far for me (on the ps3).
And while I haven't seen any issues so far, I can't help but feel that it might run dry quicker then it should, so I think making a thread to help boost its longevity would be good, and only good feedback should be considered and discussed, while trolling ignored.
So here's my idea: make a capture the flag map, both Resistance and Security have a side, each identical to the other (to make it fair, obviously). The reason i give this idea is because CTF is a team game that is immensely fun, and simple to understand, each side has areas where all classes can work their magic (walls that can be built and destroyed, areas that you can hack to open and repair).
It only really needs to be one solid map to begin with, my example: 2fort for Team Fortress 2, the face of TF2 and a constantly playable map, I still play on that map for 5 years and it still is fun to play on.

So does anyone else have any ideas? :deal:

Honestly, I could see CTF working very well. If they were to add that, I would be content. Any other game types though, (especially TDM) would not fit very well at all.
More missions will definitely be needed in some DLC as well.

But I'm loving the game as it is right now.

All I can see that would save this game is if they fix all the stupid PC issues and then release a new campaign level like, once a month for a year. Other than that, I am already through with playing it too much. And I'm only like 8 hours in. :(

More Maps
More Game Types
More Challenges
More Clothing Options
More Weapons
More Weapon Attachments
More Abilities
A Color Wheel to select the clothing color.
The ability to apply a camo or skin to our weapons.
A New tower defense mode with more depth.
A New parkour co-op race type mode.
Raise the rank/level cap.
Maybe add options to customize the HUD, like module placements, color, transparency, etc.

Just off the top of my head.

All of these should have been included in the game on launch day. Some of the reviews have hit the nail right on the head
when they said that this game has so much potential, but the devs just had no idea what to do with it. Tower defense could
be an epic game mode if a little thought and pride would have gone onto the game. I guess the devs haven't noticed that
waves of enemies in well-crafted maps is all the rage in gaming these days. Could have been really interesting in this game
with friends and different objectives on a fortress-like map.

So much wasted potential. i guess it really shows how much pride the devs take in their work when so many OBVIOUS
things were left out of the game and/or flat out not attempted.

I think there should be some free DLC somewhere along the line. Not a whole lot, maybe just a few more maps/missions.

I think the maps should be larger with many more ways to the different objectives. I know the game is all "go teamwork!" and "stick together!" but those operatives and lights need some good room to flank and screw things up for the enemy team.

I dunno about the cap, maybe raise it a bit but not TOOO much. Maybe if at one point the Level Credits stopped but you kept earning other various things.
I would like the ability to friggin' put the Radar on the bottom left though. I keep forgetting about it since I never look for it on the bottom right. Hell, I didn't even notice it for about 3 campaign missions.

They should have a game mode where the map is completely open and the objectives happen RANDOMLY (sorry if this sounds like KZ3 but I at least want to have more of the map open).

Perhaps introducing a third faction, trying to take over the city as an outside force.

This, this, and more this. I'm also inclined to say "More story" but I would assume this thread is supposed to be grounded in reality. There's only so far the term "innovative" can be used as an excuse for extremely limited content. Everyone (myself included) keeps talking about massive potential, but with such a thin package on release SD's far from capitalizing on it.

It looks like I will be getting the game on monday, so I haven't played and can't really comment on the game itself. However, during pre-launch interviews I have seen Splash Damage emphasize that the game is intended to be played for years to come by gamers, inlcuding competitive pros. To me that indicates that they have in place a solid system for dealing with updates (and I think they have with such tools as 'necvars') as well as plans for plenty of DLC in the future.
Maps, game modes, etc. are always welcome, but I think that currently priority should be given to ironing out some of the post-launch problems and see how the community develops online. From what I understand, that is what Splash Damage is interested in... Updating the game depending on its use by the online community.
That might be a different approach to, say, launching a game and saying: "This is it, play this the way we intended you to play." At least, that is the impression I got. That Splash Damage is saying: "Here is a game, show us how you want to play and we'll improve it for you."

Of course I could be naively wrong and Paul Wedgwood is currently swimming in a pool filled with pre-order money (including mine), but I doubt it.

If they're going to raise the Level Cap than they should do it as a 1200-1800 point DLC that raises the cap by 5, adds at least three new missions that continue the story, new weapons, and new costume pieces.

CTF could work if they gave both teams an intel suitcase thing to retrieve, and a location to deliver it, along with the relevant defense objectives.

I'd suggest having multiple unlockable and resealable routes into and out of the different areas of the map as secondaries as well. Repairable bridges, hackable doors, destructible barricades, etc.

Great idea, I love those parts on the maps. Its awesome being able to craft and change different parts of the battlefield.

This, seriously. I don't see a good future for Brink right now; just one online mode with horridly balanced maps.

Killzone 3 thought me not to buy generic shooters. Brink has just thought me to wait for reviews, even if the game was on D2D for $37.

agreed...and I'm loving the game...only wish there was a NO BOTS feature for multiplayer...I got an all human team a couple times last night...I think...it's like I had this terrible match one time and looked and saw there was only one human on my team.

Oh..and another thing...folks need to get mics!!!!
