Content with Skyrim's Announced Features?

Post » Mon May 16, 2011 2:29 pm

You know, as long as Bethesda follows through with all of the announced features, I'm going to be completely content with the game. My major complaints with Oblivion -- the leveling system, the less-than-stellar main quest, the bad animations, the really really ugly people -- have been addressed in screen-shots and interviews. Are there things that could be added? Sure, but there's not much that can be added to the game at this point that would increase my enjoyment as exponentially as those. It's a TES game, I'm going to be able to do and be what I want -- that's the meat of the series, and the part I enjoy most.

Maybe I'm a bit more lenient on the fine details since, as a PC gamer, I can mod things in and out of the game. But here's my two cents: I'd really just like Bethesda to follow through with their promises, and release a good, solid Elder Scrolls game. :tes:

I'm totally psyched and everything that has been talked about is to my liking. I'm completely content with Skyrim's announced features.

I've mostly been satisfied with what I've heard about the game, actually. I expect to enjoy Skyrim based on what we currently know about it. I might complain that something I want to see didn't make it into the game or that I feel a certain feature could have been done better, but as much as I'd like to see spears, a quality over quantity approach to companions, and water effect that don't look like a game from 2004, their absence won't stop me from enjoying the game.

Like you said, all major problems are taken care of. The main story can't be good for everyone tho.

It would be nice if we got a PC friendly grid inventory instead of the dreadful lists in Fallout3 and Oblivion......

Well, at least you can kind of pretend you have a spear with a polearm? I'm super excited to use a halberd, personally.

I am not content with the current features anounced, I'll never be content 'till it's out. However that's just due to my low will-power and lack of better things to do. :P Really, I'd be ok if no more info was released until 11-11-11.

I am still kinda worried about not having mounts (unless I missed a recent change in tune since the GI coverage). I personally never used fast travel in Oblivion and tried to keep my horses alive as long as possible (I got that *one* horse pretty late in the game) so I really hope running everywhere isn't my only option.

I also really hope there is some kind of survival mode built in (a la New Vegas).

So I guess I would have to say 'no.'

I'm satisfied with what we have now, but there is still stuff I would like to see added, like a dye system.

I dont care if it has the same exact game play as Oblivion, as I loved Oblivion. So I'm just looking forward to another TES game. The special features of Skyrim is realy only the tip of enormous the ice berg that is TES. I just want it to come out allready.

Yep, I think they've addressed the major points and added/improved on some really awesome features. Plus, they'll have tweaked the game with all sorts of little nice things we haven't heard about yet. Man I'm excited.
They don't have to really go and add a billion new features, really. TES is good enough anywho.

If Bethesda can deliver on what they've announced thus far, and don't make any blaring mistakes, this could
very well be the best rpg of the decade. The only things I'm concerned about is
-That vampires could be ommitted
-That spellmaking could be axed.

According to one or two gaming sites though, they think Dragon Age 2 is the best RPG of the decade. Queue our collective laughter. Dragon Age Origins was much better than it's successor...DA2 won't rival Mass Effect 3, much less Skyrim.

Spellmaking is confirmed axed, I'm afraid. =/ No news on Vampires yet, though.

Not strictly content, in that there are several things I'd like to see which haven't been confirmed, or directly shown yet:
  • Vampirism & Lycanthropy
  • Mounts (incl. non-horse mounts)
  • Polearm variations
  • Attributes, Birthsigns, etc

But generally speaking, I'm extremely happy with Skyrim based on what we know so far.

Being as Bethesda has released little information to date I don't see how its time to lay back and be satisfied. What if they decided to remove all the factions and only have a main quest? What if it ships without ridable horses? What if the game has a horrendously poorly written ending like Fallout 3 did? Not that any of these (aside from the last one) are particularly likely, but it's better to wait to get more details to be satisfied.

I am content with what we know so far, a lot of improvement in the technical department. The new dialogue mechanics sounds good, the combat sounds more specialized. The animations could be good this time if not impressive. The economy seems to be improved to some extent, I hope that "ruining a town's economy" is not just a scripted event in a particular quest, I hope it's completely organic and repeatable. The leveling system overhaul seems entertaining, just need to see it in action to get really excited, I didnt play Fallout 3 so I don't know how much perks can customize the game experience from one play to another.

However I still need to know more on the "magnetic" targeting, that's a thing that I didn't expect and I'm not quite sure I'll like it, I'd rather say not. I like complete control of what I'm aiming at, even at the risk of hurting my companions.

And there are still a lot of things that I wanted radically improved from Oblivion and have no idea yet how will be in Skyrim, things like the quality of written dialogue and voice acting, the options in dialogue, the factions and how alive and believable and entertaining they can be, the loot (unique, varied, not leveled with the character).

one thing i'm not too excited about, is how during a quest, i'll be directed to a dungeon i haven't been in. dunno if i like that. not too happy that there's less skills, like mysticism and athletics being taken out. also not liking what i'm hearing about spellmaking. i liked the spread sheaty feel of it.

otherwise!! i'm prepared to enjoy the game for what it is, with all the changes and all. i'm so excited about this game

The positive things that they changed are generally answers to the fans complaints (level scaling) which is a good thing. I wish there were more info about the races and about the factions, but at this point I can safely say that Skyrim is going to be my no1 Tes ever, there is too much positive things that I read.

I'm satisfied with the new leveling (the major skills system was anti-climactic to say the least) and with the finishing moves. Other things that make me excited are spider fights, nonscripted dragon behaviour, real timed dialogue, open cities (hopefully), improved archery. The only thing that I don't seem to like is the radiant story.

I really would like to see more official user freindly modding info. Clothing as just one example.
Spare us the babysit your brain mentality as much as possible.
Modding is THE strong point of TES.
Make it discreetly but infinately moddable and give us disclaimers about Beth not responsible for any content
that is created by users to satisfy the wowsers.
