Continuation of the Dark Brotherhood Storyline

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 2:23 am

Hi, I just finished the awesome DB storyline for about the 6th time and keep wondering whether there's a mod that will continue the storyline, etc...because I think it's a bit of a shame that it ends in the way it does...Despite what the title says, do you guys know any decent mods that continue the storyline of any other guild? (mages guild, thieves guild, arena, fighter's guild)

Much appreciated,

Zips

Well there's a mod that's been in the making for 150 years: The Dark Brotherhood Chronicles. However that ain't finished yet, hopefully it will be soon.

If you search the nexus, just simply typing "Dark Brotherhood" you'll get a few minor mods that will give you a few new missions. Also there are at least two really nice remakes of the Sanctuary.

But yeah, you'll have to go on Nexus.

DBC has been more of a joke than a WIP.

Second this recommendation. Arthmoor does good stuff :P Also, it's not really a "minor" mod. *sigh*

On a similar note, based on a DB:C representative's attitude on Arthmoor's release, I wouldn't recommend even following DB:C

I wouldn't be so quick to badmouth a mod just because it's been stuck in development hell, or for the actions of one member, who has apologised...

This.

I've been looking forward to DB:C myself. Every indication is that it's going to be outstanding quality work when it's done. The scale of it is pretty huge, so it's taking a long LONG time to get there, but they've shown every indication that they will.

There's no animosity between us, so it would be greatly appreciated if these silly rumors could be put to rest.

Glad to see that the DBC are up and running again. Best part of vanilla oblivion was the dark brotherhood.

You asked about continuations to other guild storylines:

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15251 continues the Mages' Guild storyline, with an option between evil-ish and good-ish character paths and interesting results either way.

Giskard's "Fighters' Guild Contracts" (available on his website, findable by searching The Engineering Guild) doesn't extend the storyline of the Fighters' Guild per se, but makes it more of continually playable role. This mod adds something like thirty repeatable "contract" jobs to the Fighter's Guild that come available as you finish different stages of the quest line.

Thievery in the Imperial City actually doesn't touch the Thieves' guild, but rather supplements it. It provides you with a series of about ten "freelance" thieving jobs, selling you tips about places to find some tidbits of extra juicy loot, and offering a somewhat better price for that loot than you'd get elsewhere. It's a nice "continuation" if you want more thieving quests, but aren't specially attached to the Thieves' Guild itself. Similarly, Thieves' Arsenal will give you an endless supply of randomly generated thieving jobs.

Second this recommendation, although I should note that it gears itself more towards the option of siding with Mannimarco post-MG's main quest.

In regards to DB:C, I've never had a problem with the wait required--good things always come to those who wait. My problem was the attitude, and obviously if there was an apology, and Arthmoor doesn't care, then I obviously shouldn't either. So I apologize (and will edit) my earlier remarks :)
