How do you set up New Vegas to use a controller for the PC? Thanks

The 360 controller just works.

Anything else needs mapping software like Joy2Key/Xpadder or something similar.

See previous post. This is a common issue with Oblivion and Fallout 3 to. (In game settings not sticking.) Only the 360 controller is natively supported (In NV/F3) and anything else has to have/use mapping software unfortunately.

Try http://www.tocaedit.com/IB/index.php?automodule=downloads&showfile=4. It's sort of a mapping software, but it uses a .dll. I've used it successfully with Mirror's Edge, Rise of the Argonauts, and Overlord with my Logitech PC gamepad. Part of the directions say to only extract a few things out of the archive, but that doesn't work, you have to plop everything in the .zip into whatever folder the game uses for the input .dlls.

I don't know how it works, but somehow it interfaces so that your gamepad will work correctly with games that think the 360 controller is the only one that exists in the world (and thus lead to problems like your anolog sticks doing wonky things in-game (like being reversed)).

EDIT: I'm pretty sure this isn't the kind of "emulator" that the Forum Rules prohibit.
