Conversation on Conversation

Well, I've played the game quiet a lot now, and have tried out several play-styles (about 12 different characters [I have rerollitis]) which has allowed me to go through the quests from different perspectives and is still entertaining, the only problem?
I can't even discuss things differently with NPCs! at most there are 5 options and only 2 allow the conversation to go forward, and the others are background info that loop back onto the same conversation options!
At worst there is 1-2 options that both give the same response back from the NPC, there is literally no interesting dynamics when talking to a NPC.
What's worst is that the options given for you to say make your character seem incredibly thick~

(not exact Dialogue but you get the idea)

Guard of Whiterun~
"I don't believe it, you are.. Dragonborn!"

Dovahkiin~
Dragonborn? what's that?
You may be right.

\End Rant

I can't be the only one who thinks the dialogue is very poorly done compared to the other TES games, can I?

Edit for Typos

I agree.

Not only the conversation is limited, but theres no real feedback to your character history.

Lets say you finished the quests of the thieves guild (Ill not spoil). Then you are doing some quest that you need to go talk with someone in the thieves guild, the NPC over there will not know who you are.

Thats the biggest problem for me on this game.

The graphics are nice, gameplay good, history ok, freedom amazing...but its impossible for you to build your character's history, because no one on Skyrim reacts properly.

Todd himself admited this the hardest thing to implement.
TES VI will take another step in the right direction, i'm sure.

Umm...you're joking right? What other TES game had good dialogue?I don't know about Oblivion, but Morrowind almost never afforded you the opportunity to make even false choices, let alone real ones. I think Skyrim's dialogue is pretty typical of an Elder Scrolls game. If you want good dialogue choices, we'll have to wait until Bethesda lets Obsidian make another game for them. ^_^

Waiting eagerly.

Dont get me wrong, this game is amazing.

You can truly play the way you want, be whoever you want. But, we are still very far of a real simulation of a fantasy world...what probably is the objective of a sand box game like TES.

eh I must have looked at it with my rose tinted goggles on, but the dialogue is really bad even in the main quest :sadvaultboy:
I wasn't expecting Bioware level dialogue but jesus....
