Convert sims 2 meshes to morrowind

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 2:58 am

Could anyone explain it to me?

The sims 2 community is strong and it is known that the mesh format is very similar.

What file format are they? So long as you can import a model into Blender or Max, you can convert any user-made mesh into the .nif file format.

I remember i played with sims 2 mod hairs some time ago, i used a program called SimPE it can edit/pack/unpack sims 2 package files so i could export modes as OBJ's,
check www.modthsims2.com , i think they have some programs in the downloads

Would be nice to get some hair meshes from sims2 moders :) , o yea and dont try to convert any stuff you need actually pay for (yes there are sites that are charging cash for mods!)

Yes, you need SimPe to make export from sims packages. Try to look at this tutorial:
http://translate.google.ru/translate?hl=ru&sl=ru&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwiki.rumor.ru%2Findex.php%3Ftitle%3DOblivion%3AExporting_hairstyles_from_Sims_to_TES
It's in russian, so I give to link via google.translate. There are pics that can help you in making hairs. Some good free stuff can be find on peggysims.com.

P.S. In my signature there is link to "Nameless hairs", they are from sims. you can find this mod on PES too.

Good luck.

Many hair meshes can be a pain to convert (overlapping alpha's)

Some good free stuff can be find on peggysims.com.

I would watch out for this site, when making some "offical" converts, peggy does not have any good reputation if you ask me

Shannon at Great House Fliggerty has been doing this. I've been using some furniture meshes he converted some time ago. If you have questions, he might be a good person to start with.

I'll say ! Very welcome additions there ! Like the bird house too ( perhaps it could be modified to house cliff-racers ......) as well as the statue .

I would love to see some of this artist's work converted, but I'm not sure if its pay for play modding or not. And I'm not sure if its all for the Sims. But its some really beautiful work. Here's an example.

The statue is a model that belongs to EA and it's distribution is a crime.

Using the assets from one game and using them in another is not permitted. If they are custom made assets then there is no problem.

Ok, so which is it? I don't have the sims so I can't tell if it's EA or fan-made.

That's a complete lie. It is not EA property!!!! It is fan made.

That statue is too obscure (medieval themed) to be a part of the main game.

:shocking:

The proof:

The author is missed, probably dead? I do not know, what matters?

New objects!

http://runspect.users.sourceforge.net/morrowind-resource-pack-page-2/

I'm trying to convert a canopy bed, but the texture do not cover entirely the curtains.

And this item do not shine, it would be metalic.

What am I doing wrong? :-(

Some nice stuff :)

I just hope you are getting permission from the original creators of the meshes to use their stuff in Morrowind.

Thanks for these Runspect  It seems that the links for "Medieval Dining" and "Throne" both point to the same URL as "Altar"

I really love what you are doing with this! I always looked with sadness to all those beautiful Sims 2 objects that I couldn't convert due to lack of knowledge, so your project is very welcome.

Oh, and about the meshes being free, I think that the only thing you need to do to convert and redistribute them is to give credit to the original authors in the Readme, that is unless they state clearly that they don't give permission to use their creations, so I think there is no problem.

Keep the good work going!!
