converting armor from oblivon to morrowind

Post » Mon Jul 18, 2011 3:06 pm

hi newbie modder here, I'm trying to convert this armor for morrowind, I currently am using blender 1.49 with niftool script ( I really wish it would be updated for 1.58 much more user friendly version) I know how to split objects apart but I have no idea how to add the needed noded for it to work, does anyone here have a definitive method in convertining oblivion armor ?

p.s I cant garentee that this will be shared to the pubic as I have yet to ask for permisson in distributing it, but still at the very least a actual detailed guide would help anyone who woul want to do this in the future

It is not allowed.

We cant even talk about how to do it, sharing assets between games is not allowed. There is nothing to stop you figuring it out yourself, but we cant tell you how and you wouldnt be allowed to release it either.

Modder-created assets can be converted (since they're not Bethesda's), but you should obtain the original modder's permission before doing so.

You can recreate things from Oblivion in Morrowind, even stuff from other games, you just can't import it directly. With Oblivion stuff, it's referred to as "downgrading".

For example, there's somebody recreating Ayleid ruins for Morrowind. He isn't using Bethesda's meshes, he rebuilt them himself, in just a slightly different manner. You can get swords from Fable in Morrowind too, since the data in that mod isn't taken from the game, the idea just serves as the basis for the meshes and textures the modder built themselves.

I just messaged culbrain (as his agreement stated) over at the nexus forums, again I am really new at this (I have had NO 3d modeling experiance), so really I am using it to learn how to use blender.

until I get permission I wont ask over here on the offical forums, I understand that it is to keep people from converting bethesda owned meshes , which is perfectly understandable

edit when I said import I meant downgrading I Have enough knowledge to know that they are diffrent in more ways then just added physics

We don't allow you to discuss using assets from one game with another game.
